From co-creators Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, The Four Seasons season 2 picks up with the long-time friends following the unexpected grief and bombshell pregnancy reveal that ended the first season. Once again, the crew comes together for a gathering or vacation four times a year, in each of the seasons as we slowly chart through each individual and couple's ups and downs.

No, Steve Carell doesn't return for season 2

Before the second season's premiere, it's clear that fans of The Four Seasons have been curious about whether Steve Carell will be back. Well, following his character's death at the end of season 1 and the fact that his exit has been confirmed, we know for sure that he will not be in season 2. Nick passed away in a car accident, though he lives on through Ginny's unborn child.

Carell is the only main cast member that isn't reprising their role in the second season as the remaining six series regulars are all back. Here's the full season 2 main cast:

  • Tina Fey as Kate
  • Will Forte as Jack
  • Colman Domingo as Danny
  • Kerri Kenney-Silver as Anne
  • Marco Calvani as Claude
  • Erika Henningsen

Unless Carell makes a surprise cameo as Nick's ghost at some point in season 2, he's not expect to appear. In addition to the main cast, Steven Pasquale joins in a recurring role as Mark, a new friend the gang meets during their summer trip to the Jersey shore. We can also anticipate other possible returning faces from season 1, including friends, children, and other loved ones.

What to expect from The Four Seasons season 2

Obviously, Nick's death and Ginny's pregnancy will be two of the driving forces of the narrative and character development in The Four Seasons season 2. Each of the characters will be dealing with these changes in their own way, and in turn, that will most definitely impact the group dynamic in unexpected ways as they meet four times per year.

Take a closer look at the official synopsis as shared by Netflix's press release:

"Coming off a hard year, our group of friends carries on their tradition of vacationing together — now with a baby in tow. The Four Seasons picks back up with the core group — Kate (Tina Fey), Jack (Will Forte), Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver), Danny (Colman Domingo), Claude (Marco Calvani), and Ginny (Erika Henningsen) — as they journey from the familiar comforts of the Jersey shore and upstate New York to the stunning landscapes of Italy."

After facing the worst fork in the road a friend group could ever imagine, that naturally forces them to start thinking about the future. Whether that's parenthood, relationships, or how best to honor your late friend, we're in for another year of highs and lows with the funniest new friends we've made on the small screen.
