It's an 828 Day surprise that Manifest fans probably weren't expecting but are now celebrating. Since the beloved supernatural drama series wrapped up with its fourth and final season back in June 2023, devoted Manifesters have been keeping the faith that a spinoff series could come to fruition. Well, keeping that faith was definitely well worth it now, thanks to Netflix.

On Aug. 28, 2026 at 8:28 a.m. PT, Netflix and Manifest creator Jeff Rake made the announcement that fans of the series had been keeping their fingers crossed for for three years. The show's spinoff series, which is titled Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, has gotten the green light from Netflix and is getting closer to the production process. That's right, we're heading back to the world of Manifest.

Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery spinoff series ordered at Netflix

While it's not a direct spinoff of the original series, Rake's new offshoot will be set within the same universe as the Flight 828 passengers. There will be new characters and storylines at the center of Arrivals, rather than reopening the ending of Manifest season 4 and continuing to follow of the original characters from the series. But as we know, it's all connected, so it's not an impossibility.

Netflix shared the official synopsis for Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery in its press release:

"When a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver, the passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they’re here. A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent team up with the new arrivals in an attempt to stop a humanity-ending catastrophe, discovering along the way that they are all part of the very puzzle they’re trying to solve."

While the original series took place in New York, the new offshoot takes as to Denver at the sight of a plane crash, in which the passengers have zero memory of, well, anything. Already, that's a big difference from the basis of Flight 828, which went missing for five years, though the passengers didn't feel a second of that stolen time. But once again, the passengers are part of a larger puzzle.

Currently, there are no casting announcements that have been shared by Netflix or Rake, and no character details have been revealed either. Being so, it's unknown if any stars or characters from Manifest are expected to make an appearance in Arrivals to bridge the two worlds together. Right now, it's also unclear how the two shows are connected beyond airplane tragedies at their center.

However, since Netflix intends for the spinoff to be accessible to new viewers, meaning none of the lore from the original series should be an integral prerequisite for watching the spinoff, there might not be much overlap between the two shows. Still, it's too soon to know for sure what Rake and the team have planned before cameras start rolling, hopefully before the year ends.

This time around, Rake teams up with co-creators and co-showrunners Laura Putney and Margaret Easley on Arrivals as they embark on a new chapter of the sci-fi world Rake built with Manifest. Putney and Easley were previously writers on the original series, penning a number of the episodes across the show's four-season run. Now they're back helping pilot the new plane.

Netflix hasn't teased a possible release window for the new series, but we keep hope for a release sometime in toward the end of 2027. We will know more about when to expect Arrivals to arrive on our watch list once the streaming service provides more information during the production process. Stay tuned for more news and updates on the very exciting Manifest spinoff!
