Squid Game season 2 ended quite abruptly as was expected. To be fair, fans already knew that seasons 2 and 3 were really going to be the same season and that Netflix and the show's creators just needed us to watch a bunch of episodes with a full season split in two. There were many storylines of season 2 that won't be resolved until later in 2025. That is the hope.

But just to make sure we stay interested, Netflix dropped a poster for season 3 featuring dolls Young-Hee and Chul-Su. You know Young-Hee well. She is the doll from season 1 that calls the green light red light game. If you don't stop fully at red light then that is your fault and not Young-Hee's.

We do not get to meet Chul-Su until the final credits of season 2, so the fact that he is on the poster for the new season means he should have a very impactful role. Many fans of the series have theorized that Young-Hee and Chul-Su will form a partnership for a Jack and Jill game. Everyone can safely assume that Chul-Su will be the troublemaker.

Netflix teases Jack and Jill poster for Squid Game season 3

In the game Jack and Jill, one of the players tries to get up a hill with a pail of water while the other basically pushes that player down. This is overly simplified, of course, and we can safely assume that Squid Games is not going to make it that easy. People will try and die. That is how the show goes.

Young-Hee and Chul-Su are also characters from Korean children's books so they are not suddenly new to the world. In fact, if we were all Korean, we might assume even more surely exactly what will happen in season 3. Instead, we are forced to guess, but that is also part of the fun of the series. We just hope those we root for pull through.

Let's just hope the second half of season 2, also known as season 3, comes off better than the first half did. Too many plotlines seemed less than formed and many died on the vine. The hope is that it all makes sense when the new season arrives in 2025. We trusted the creators in season 1, so they have earned the benefit of the doubt, but season 3 might end with a definite thud.
