It's last call for the Gallaghers on Netflix. After spending years as a fan-favorite binge-watch selection on Netflix, Showtime's Shameless will reportedly remove all 11 of its hilarious, dramatic, and dependably chaotic seasons from the platform before the end of the year.
While still airing new seasons on Showtime, Shameless made its Netflix debut in 2016 with its first four seasons. Following that initial drop, subsequent seasons were later added after they completed airing on the cable network. All told, the complete series became available in 2021 after the series finale earlier that year, and all 11 seasons have been available to watch since then.
Shameless expected to leave Netflix US in October 2026
However, since Shameless hails from Warner Bros. Television, the series was always expected to be removed from Netflix at some point. According to What's on Netflix, Shameless could be removed from Netflix in the United States as soon as Oct. 11, 2026, which would be 10 years after the show's initial licensing deal with the streamer began. Obviously, fans never wanted this day to come.

As of this writing in June 2026, Netflix isn't showing a removal notice for the show on the platform since it's still so early. The removal, should it happen, will be confirmed by Netflix at least one month before the official removal date. Despite the reporting, removals are always tentative right down to the wire due to the nature of licensing deals and unpredictable renewals.
But erring on the side of caution, it's extremely likely that Shameless will be removed from Netflix this fall and be in search of a new streaming home. Due to being produced and distributed by Warner Bros., the obvious choice for a new streamer would be HBO Max. That's where the show will almost definitely land, though the show's former network being Showtime could also put Paramount+ in the running. That's less likely, but matters could get dicey with Paramount's bid to buy Warner Bros.
If you don't want to wait to find out where Shameless will be streaming in the event of its Netflix departure, there's still plenty of time to binge-watch the complete series before October. There might even be enough time to watch the full show twice for the most dedicated binge-watchers! Shameless contains a total of 134 episodes as each season features 12 episodes (save for season 9's 14).
Shameless began as an adaptation of the British series of the same name, but because of its popularity, it grew into its own thing entirely. Fans fell in love with the messy and chaotic Gallagher family and all of their flaws. Even the truly unredeemable patriarch Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) became endearing. It's all because the characters became like family over the years.
The series created a number of stars out of its cast, including Cameron Monaghan, Shanola Hampton, and The Bear star Jeremy Allen White. Kicking off its run in 2011 and ending in 2021, the series saw through a decade in American history, between politics and the pandemic. It's a true showcase of modern American life that everyone should experience at least once.
