There are some really shocking moments within the most-watched content on Netflix last week. Not so much scary, frightening, horror style, but the kind that pulls at your heart and gut and makes you think. Find out more below now that Tudum has updated the lists of the top five most-viewed movies and shows in the US on Netflix.
The movies have two of those big shocks. Watch and get drawn in as someone’s worst day unfolds with twists and turns throughout. The second comes as the story behind a disaster is revealed. There are some real jaw-dropping moments in both movies for sure.
On the show front, look out for a new enthralling drama that could have us all hooked. There’s also a show returning for a second season in sparkling form that’s well worth seeing. Then there are some questions over another returner as it hits season three. Check out the top five lists below to see what's in for last week.
Top five most watched movies on Netflix week of June 18
5 - Bee Movie
Animations are usually fun movies, and DreamWorks has a good reputation and track record. So we should expect a lot from this 2007 movie from their studios. Add in a Jerry Seinfeld-led script and those expectations rise higher. It falls slightly short with its tale of a worker bee fed up in the hive and deciding he and the other bees are being exploited for their honey.
4 - Get Hard
Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart take the lead in Get Hard. But their comic talents are somewhat wasted on this movie. Sure, it’ll get some laughs, but a lot of the comedy and jokes from back then are somewhat out of place in today’s society. It’s only ten years since it came out, but it has dated badly.
3 - Titan: The OceonGate Submersible Disaster
This was already an eerie and disturbing story when the news of the missing submersible broke back in 2023. As it became clear that all five people onboard died instantly as the submarine imploded, the shock was even more pronounced.
Watching this documentary helps you understand more about what happened and some of the why. It’s quite shocking in places, as some of the safety measures are put under the spotlight.
2 - Plane
This is remarkably good for a film from 2023 that you may have forgotten about or overlooked. It’s neatly laced with strong hints of Con Air and Die Hard. Gerald Butler is in top form as an RAF pilot forced to crash land a plane on a remote island. There is plenty of taut, tense action as he tries to save and protect his passengers before, during, and after that landing.
1 - Straw
To quote a recent review on Netlfix Life of this top movie, it is “a gut-wrenching drama that will leave you emotionally drained.” The movie takes us through a crazy day in the life of a single mother, played by Taraji P. Henson. The day starts badly and gets worse as it goes on. The pressure felt by the characters as the shocking day progresses feeds through to the viewers too, making it very realistic.

5 - Sirens
Four straight weeks in the top five for Sirens. The classy story with a surplus of witty lines and drama keeps everyone entertained. The storyline is well paced over five episodes, and the actors all turn in great performances. What's not to like?
4 - The Survivors
The Survivors is set in a small Tasmanian town and is based on the novel by Jane Harper. The Australian setting adds something different to a murder story. It’s a great watch with buried secrets, multiple suspects, and plenty of tension, all triggered by a body washed up on the beach.
3 - Raw 2025: June 9
It was WWE time at the PHX Arena in Phoenix, Arizona, as the next Raw bouts were streamed live. Top fights included Jey Uso vs. Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship and lots more action besides. These live events keep pulling in the viewers, one for Netflix to take note of in its future plans.
2 - Tires: Season 2
Some series need time to improve, and that’s the case with Tires. Season 2 is much better and funnier than the original. A workplace comedy set in a tire depot, with strains of The Office, it’s returned with more humor. If you weren't impressed the first time around, do give it a second season chance.
1 - Ginny & Georgia: Season 3
We see Ginny & Georgina take top spot again, but it has worn a bit thin with some viewers. It built a following from a great mother-daughter dynamic in season one, but that’s fallen away considerably since and doesn’t feature anywhere near as much now. There are split views on the latest season, but the viewers are still watching in big numbers.
