One does not have to like Valentine's Day to love romantic series. Though, to be fair, and just like Christmas in December, something about February does make one want to swoon a bit more. It's fun, potentially heartbreaking, and worth the risk.

Thankfully, we can also live in pretend worlds where there is a bunch of romance, too. Those happen on TV shows, of course. Or streaming shows. (You don't have to have a TV for those.)

Below are four exceedingly romantic series that are worth a watch. You can do this alone or with someone else. Either way, you will have a good time.

Four series streaming on Netflix that will make you feel the romance

Gilmore Girls

A show that revolves around a mother and daughter is nothing new, and clearly, they are not romantically involved. But this series is full of romance, especially the will-they-or-won't-they connection between Lauren Graham's Lorelai and Scott Patterson's Luke. And wouldn't it be great to fall in love while living in the quaint town of Stars Hollow?

Heck, there might be a somewhat romantic link between the viewer and the ideal of living in the village. We all want to be there. And we all want to find our partner in that kind of setting.

Wanderlust

This one has Toni Collette. What else does anyone need to know? Oh, and Emma D'Arcy too.

While we are serious with the above, the six-episode series follows a therapist (Collette) who has a terrible bike accident that changes her life. She and her husband reassess their lives together from that point on. The show is about how they try to save it.

Firefly Lane

The plot revolves around two friends who are not romantically involved. The romance comes from almost all the other storylines, and they are told with so much care and adoration that one might fall in love anyway. Sure, it can be a bit soapy and overly dramatic, but it's got a good heart.

How I Met Your Mother

This is a seemingly somewhat silly show with some easy laughs, but at the heart of it is one couple and three other friends who are either trying to maintain their current relationship or find love. It is a true ensemble, even though the show has its anchor in the character of Ted, we get a bit of insight into each character's needs and flaws.

Plus, except for a few months of drama, who would not want to be in a relationship like the kind Marshall and Lily have? So sweet.
