Good and bad series can only truly be judged by the opinion of the one watching. We can read what critics say and choose to believe them or not, which might influence our decisions about what to view.

We can also listen to what people we know say. Will they judge us harshly if we spend hours of our lives watching something that they think is bad? Is that fair?

A couple of the shows below have been somewhat panned, but one has been extremely respected. You should decide for yourself how good they are.

These three new Netflix series you need to judge for yourself

With Love, Meghan (Season 1)

Have the reviews been bad? Yep. Does this passion project seem ill-conceived and make the Duchess appear more out of touch than she could ever imagine? Also, yes. But the reason you should watch the series is not to dislike it based on reviews; you should make up your mind.

The truth is that Prince Harry and Meghan are almost always going to be divisive. That is part of the nature of royalty because there is an inherent air to it. They have to proceed as if they are living everyday lives, and they never will. We can judge them when they produce shows like this, for better or worse.

Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney (Season 1)

This live talk show is done precisely how Mulaney wants it to be, so if you don't like him, you will not like the show. He presents homages to past talk-show greats such as Johnny Carson, but in very sneaky ways, such as when he throws the show to a "commercial." The comedian also does not try to attract consistent A-list talent, and that makes the show better.

Mulaney has not committed to doing the show long-term, and many viewers might not want him to. This is a bit of a train wreck at times, but the chaos is controlled. You might find yourself watching the show, disliking it, and still watching. It is the talk show version of Baby Reindeer.

Adolescence (limited series)

This show has legs. Many UK schools will reportedly be showing the series so that people can better understand how much social media can influence what we do. It can be a very evil forum, and it is easy to believe. At a young age, it is difficult to know what the truth is and what a lie is.

This series is not a fun watch, but it is meaningful and should be seen. You know what happened, but not exactly why until the end. That is the magic of this tragic tale.
