As we shared recently here, the new cast for Run Away, the next Harlan Coben limited series on Netflix has been revealed. There are lots of big names and great actors in the new cast list. There were also a few surprises and an extra reveal from a writer working on the production.
Based on Coben’s 2019 book of the same name it has all his usual trademark signs for a great show. The plot has a father, played by James Nesbitt, searching with his wife, Minnie Driver, for their runaway daughter, Ellie de Lange. The cast also includes Ruth Jones as a private investigator also searching for the daughter.
We can expect plenty of the usual mysteries, twists, and turns from Coben shows. Each episode reveals more about the characters and how they link together. The cast playing them looks superb with many top actors. The immediate focus from fans online was on Nesbitt, Jones, and a third Netflix and Coben-linked star.
Fans react to the casting of Harlan Coben's new Netflix show, Run Away
Firstly there was the reaction to the news of James Nesbitt in the leading role and about that third star. Richard Armitage has been a leading player in several Coben adaptations on Netflix. The big news is that he isn’t on the Run Away cast. That was a surprise for many fans of the shows. But as one suggested, perhaps Nesbitt is aiming for that regular starting role.
Jones is fresh from her co-writing and acting role in Gavin And Stacey which drew huge audiences for its final ever episode screened over Christmas. Her inclusion and other notable casting points caused fans to add their views online and for that extra inside production information to be shared too.
Fans were delighted to see her on the cast. She certainly brought a quirky style to her role as Nessa in Gavin And Stacey. That could also be a trait used in her role as a P.I. in this new darker series. it doesn't, though, take a P.I. to get this snippet of inside news straight from the Run Away camp.
Well, that sounds exciting to me. Looks like we should all be looking forward to the new show. The next question is when. Well, as that message shows they are still in pre-production. Filming isn't underway, and as yet, we are waiting to hear more on release dates. It could be quite a wait yet, but as soon as there is any more news, we’ll share it here for you.
