Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) is one of the most likable characters in Stranger Things, whom you can't help but root for every step of the way. From her easygoing humor to her quick thinking and loyalty to her friends, she’s a character who effortlessly steals every scene she’s in.
In season 3, we find out Robin's sexuality during an awkward conversation between her and Steve in the bathroom stall of the Starcourt Mall. After Steve confesses his crush on her, Robin basically rejects him by telling him that she likes girls instead of guys.
Then, in season 4, we find out that Robin has a crush on her fellow bandmate, Vickie (Amybeth McNulty). At first, it seemed like the crush would go nowhere since Vickie had a boyfriend and Robin was too scared to ask her out. But closer to the end of the season, they share an awkward yet sweet conversation that appeared to hint at something more than friendship brewing between the two.
Now, in Stranger Things 5, Robin and Vickie shippers finally got the payoff they’ve been waiting for, as the two are officially together. But our main concern is whether their relationship will survive the chaos of Hawkins, with Vecna and the Upside Down threatening the town once again.
Spoilers are ahead from Stranger Things 5.
Robin and Vickie need to stay together in Stranger Things 5

Unfortunately, there aren't many scenes with Robin and Vickie together in the first half of the fifth season. In fact, there's really only one scene with the two of them together, and it's short. However, Vickie is mentioned a few times throughout the first batch of episodes. We find out they're officially together in the first episode after Robin mentions going on a date later on that day on the radio show she runs with Steve. The episode then cuts to Vickie, who is listening in.
Later on in the first episode, Robin visits Vickie at the local hospital where she works. She has unfortunate news to break to her. After learning that the military will be entering the Upside Down, the Hawkins gang sees this as their opportunity to get inside and, hopefully, find and kill Vecna. Since Robin will be helping out with the mission, she won't be able to go on her date with Vickie later. That's why she meets with Vickie at the hospital.
Although Robin doesn't tell Vickie the real reason she can't go on their date, Vickie still understands and accepts Robin's proposal to reschedule it for the next day. They then start kissing until they hear a noise outside the door. It's Will, and he saw everything. Later on in the first batch of episodes, Robin basically comes clean about her sexuality to Will and her secret relationship with Vickie. This brings them closer, and Robin suspects that Will might like Mike after seeing them having a conversation.
In episodes 1 through 4 of Stranger Things 5, we don't get to see Robin and Vickie go on their date because Holly gets kidnapped by Vecna, and the Hawkins gang sets out on a rescue mission. Robin even mentions to Will that she's avoiding Vickie because she knows she won't be able to make their rescheduled date either. But how will Vickie react when she finds out? Rescheduling a date once is okay, but if it keeps happening, will Vickie start to feel frustrated or think Robin isn’t as serious about their relationship?
Also, Vecna appears to be stronger than ever and an even bigger threat for the Hawkins crew. Like in the first four episodes, Robin's focus throughout the rest of the season will most likely be on defeating him. This not only puts her life in danger, but also her relationship with Vickie. Although we don't want to see any main characters die, there's a possibility that we will see this happen. It's the final season, and it just wouldn't be realistic if every character made it out unscathed.
We definitely don't want to see Robin or Vickie meet a tragic end. Their relationship has just started, and it would be incredibly cruel to fans if their budding romance were cut short by the dangers of the Upside Down. Hopefully, amidst all the chaos, Robin and Vickie get a chance to grow closer and enjoy some much-needed happiness together. I personally would be heartbroken if anything happened to them, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the rest of the fifth season plays out.
The second batch of episodes of Stranger Things 5 is set to drop on Netflix on Dec. 25.
