Where to watch Kate Winslet's new show The Regime (since it's not on Netflix)
By Mads Lennon
The Regime is a new political satire series starring Kate Winslet that is bound to attract lots of attention when it finally premieres. Will Tracy, whose previous credits include Succession, The Menu, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, created the show along with writing and executive producing it. He also serves as the showrunner, with Stephen Frears and Jessica Hobbs directing. The Regime is not a Netflix series and thus will not be on the streaming service, though that could change in the future.

What is The Regime about?
Kate Winslet stars as Elena Vernham, the chancellor of the fictional regime known as the Central European autocracy. Holed up in the palace, Elena slowly starts becoming paranoid and unstable, so she turns to a soldier named Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts) to act as her confidant. Over time, Herbert is able to exude more control and political sway over Elena as she tries to expand her power despite everything falling apart around her.
There are six episodes of The Regime and apart from Winslet and Schoenaerts the series also stars Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton, Guillaume Gallienne, and Hugh Grant.
The limited series has received mixed reviews from critics and currently has a 67% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 30 reviews. Some critics have called the series rather confusing and even dull show that fails to achieve any insightful political commentary, though most of them praise Winslet's performance.
"Ms. Winslet earns our undivided attention, making the profoundly mad and unquestionably despicable Elena one of the esteemed actor’s major achievements."
- Wall Street Journal
Fans of the actress will definitely want to watch as the series will likely net her another Emmy nomination, even if the show itself doesn't do as well as HBO might have hoped.
