Finished watching 3 Body Problem on Netflix? Watch the Chinese adaptation Three-Body next

Netflix just released its adaptation of Cixin Liu's award-winning trilogy of books, 3 Body Problem, but did you know there is another television show adapted from the same series out there? The Chinese streaming service Tencent Video released Three-Body in January 2023 and it's now accessible in the U.S. thanks to streaming services like Prime Video and Peacock.

With 30 episodes, Three-Body is a much more faithful book-to-screen adaptation of the first book in the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy. It dutifully follows The Three-Body Problem across its 30 episodes and keeps just about every detail from the book intact. It has already been renewed for a second season, which will follow the plot of The Dark Forest, and a spinoff series set to follow the fan-favorite character of Da Shi.

3 Body Problem on Netflix also adapts The Three-Body Problem, but its scope is much broader and it introduces storylines from The Dark Forest and Death's End. It's worthwhile to watch both series if you are a fan of the books because they have different approaches to the source material. The Netflix one takes some creative liberties, while the Chinese adaptation is good for those who want to see a really accurate adaptation. It's cool that we have the opportunity to see both in this day and age!

Three-Body is streaming on Prime Video and on Peacock

Three-Body is streaming on both Peacock and on Prime Video. You can also buy the season if you like on Amazon, though because there are 30 episodes, it's rather expensive at $49.99 to own it in HD.

And yes, both streaming services offer subtitles for the series so you can watch the show in English. Currently, it doesn't look like subtitles are available in other languages and there is no audio dubbing yet, meaning the audio is in Mandarin whether you have subtitles on or not. Hopefully in the future, more languages will be offered via subtitles.
