If you're scrolling through your streaming services and think there's nothing good to watch, you're in luck. There's actually plenty of new movies and shows to watch on Netflix that might be a bit under your radar. To that point, there's also a slew of recent releases to catch up in case you've fallen behind thanks to school, work, or just life in general.
True crime documentary series American Murder: Laci Peterson remains the No. 1 show on Netflix going into the Aug. 23 weekend. The gripping docuseries arrived one week ahead of Peacock's own docuseries on the same case. For something a little lighter, Emily in Paris also remains in the top 10 following the release of the highly anticipated season 4 part 1.
Even more shows are burning up the top 10 ranking, including AMC titles like Dark Winds, A Discovery of Witches, and Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches and the latest part of That '90s Show. But are you wondering what else should be on your weekend watch list? Here are four of the latest releases on Netflix that you don't want to miss!
The Accident
After debuting on Aug. 21, Mexican thriller series The Accident quickly made its appearance in the daily top 10 on Netflix. The captivating series takes place in the aftermath of a tragic incident at a birthday party and the impacts felt throughout the citizens in a wealthy community. If you're a fan of mystery thriller series on Netflix such as Echoes, Fool Me Once, and more, the 10-episode new release will be exactly the kind of weekend binge-watching you're looking for.
Incoming
It's Superbad for a new generation! Netflix's new coming-of-age comedy movie Incoming centers on a group of high school freshman looking to tackle their next big "first." That first happens to be attending their first high school party. In the raunchy comedy, there's romance and unforgettably hilarious moments that are truly a rite of passage for teen movies. Whether you're a freshman yourself or long past your high school days, Incoming definitely brings the laughs this weekend!
Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War
Another new release that dropped earlier this week, Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War quickly raced up the top 10 as history buffs checked out the new historical docudrama. Narrated by actor Ed Harris, the six-episode series features reenactments that track the gunslinging feud between Wyatt Earp and Ike Clanton. Even though its a docuseries, it's still a gritty retelling of a piece of history that all fans of Westerns will have a blast watching over the weekend.
Migration
How about something for the kids? Of course, there are more options than ever on Netflix for family movie night, and a lot of them are currently in the top 10. Migration arrived on Netflix this week and became one of the most popular movies. The Illumination animated film centers on a family of mallards migrating to Jamaica for vacation. After a long week of work and likely the first week of school, there's nothing better than settling in with the family and a good movie!
