One of the most fun new additions to Netflix U.S. in February is The Tourist season 2, the continuation of the international production that first aired on BBC One. The Jamie Dornan starrer then premiered on Max for viewers in the United States back in March 2022, but surprisingly, the platform dropped the drama, with no plans to stream the second season. Well, good news came at the end of 2023 as we got word that The Tourist would officially be coming to Netflix, and with that likely reaching a larger audience.

Netflix is now the U.S. home for The Tourist, and about a month after the season 2 finale aired on BBC One across the pond, the second installment will be available for us to watch on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024. I'm lucky enough to have seen the second season early (thank you, Netflix!) and without giving away spoilers I guarantee to our readers that this is another fun ride! Dornan and Danielle Macdonald are fantastic again — they have such great chemistry — and we get to meet new cast additions along with a brand-new location.

As far as it's been reported by Netflix, the second season will only be available on their platform for U.S. viewers. We'll be sure to let you know if we hear of other regions. If you're located in the U.K., you can watch all episodes of The Tourist season 2 on BBC iPlayer, and if you're located in Australia, the second season should be available on the streaming service Stan.

If you're not located in any of these places, you might be out of luck. The site TechRadar recommends using a VPN to access The Tourist season 2, which is up to your discretion.

What to expect from The Tourist season 2

Now, let's get into what viewers can expect from The Tourist season 2. It's almost here! I won't get into spoilers, of course, but coming off that season 1 finale, fans no doubt have so many questions that need answers. As you'll remember, Elliot (Dornan) tries to take his own life but finds hope in Helen (Macdonald) sending him a text message, presumably forgiving him for his past. (Or, at the very least, willing to move forward from what he did.) The second season takes place in a new location, with Elliot and Helen traveling to Elliot's hometown to find out more about who he is.

Like the first season, The Tourist season 2 consists of six episodes, making it a pretty easy weekend binge.

The official synopsis (via Netflix) for season 2 reads:

"Elliot (Jamie Dornan) and Helen (Danielle Macdonald) travel to Ireland to find answers about Elliot’s identity, but instead, they are forced to face the dangerous consequences of his past actions."

Netflix

The trailer gives us a better glimpse at what those "dangerous consequences" might be:

Elliot isn't in Australia anymore, but there are still people who want to kill him in season 2! Although the second installment poses a lot of questions at the start, we do get explanations and answers, along with major reveals. It's definitely a satisfying season, and the ending does leave the possibility for more.

The Tourist season 3 hasn't been announced yet, but fingers crossed that if the second season performs well on Netflix, we could be getting another installment from the Harry and Jack Williams series!
