It's a new week on Netflix, and this one begins in the midst of the three-day weekend in celebration of Memorial Day. More than likely, you have Monday off from work or school and you're wondering what's new to watch on Netflix this week. Well, if you're still working through Bridgerton, Baby Reindeer, or Tires, there's plenty more to check out when you finish those titles.
The last week of week brings Benedict Cumberbatch back to Netflix in his new mystery limited series Eric, as well as another of his hit limited series from another network. The streamer also debuts a new true crime documentary series about a TikTok cult, a teen dramedy series based on books, and another teen drama film. Here are four of the best new Netflix releases this week!
Eric
Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning actor Benedict Cumberbatch leads the six-episode limited series Eric, which makes its premiere on May 30. The series takes place in the 1980s and stars Cumberbatch as a puppeteer named Vincent whose young son goes missing. With the help of a giant puppet come to life, Vincent does everything he can to reunite with his son. Netflix promises an emotional ride from the miniseries, and there's no doubt that Cumberbatch will deliver yet another Emmy-worthy performance. Get ready of Netflix's next hit limited series!
Bonus! Cumberbatch's Emmy Award-nominated Showtime limited series Patrick Melrose begins streaming on Netflix one day before Eric on May 29.
Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult
After the Ashley Madison documentary series proved a hit with true crime fans, Netflix offers up another bite-sized true crime docuseries that will have you gripped. On May 29, Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult traces the origins and aftermath of a group of dancers on the social media video app TikTok who became trapped in the 7M cult. The cult had posed as a management company and pulled vulnerable people in. Dancing with the Devil showcases the story of the cult in three episodes and shines a light on the members who left and rebuilt their lives.
Geek Girl
On the same day as Eric, Netflix also drops the 10-episode teen comedy-drama series Geek Girl, which is based on the series of six books of the same name by Holly Smale. The series stars Emily Carey as Harriet Manners, a socially awkward and neurodivergent teenager who suddenly finds her normal life turned on its head when she's scouted to become a model. Now she'll have to continue dealing with the usual aspects of high school life but with a whole new layer of uncharted territory added for her to navigate. Watch Harriet's journey unfold on May 30!
A Part of You
The week's teen content on Netflix continues on May 31 with the Swedish teen drama film A Part of You, which stars Young Royals stars Felicia Maxime and Edvin Ryding as well as pop singer Zara Larsson in her acting debut. In the movie, a 17-year-old girl lives in the shadow of her cooler older sister, but when something bad happens, she reinvents herself but seems to learn that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. A Part of You is sure to be a huge hit with teen viewers, and especially with fans of Young Royals and Larsson. Check it out on the last day of May!
