5 things to watch on Netflix this President's Day weekend, Feb. 16-19
By Mads Lennon
Can you believe another weekend is upon us and February is almost over already? After how long January felt, February has zoomed by, though I guess that's not too surprising given that it is the shortest month of the year.
For most of us, this weekend is also a three-day weekend, meaning we've got extra time to spend binge-watching shows and movies on Netflix! Here's what we're watching this weekend of February 16 to 19.
Love Is Blind season 6
One of Netflix's most popular reality shows is back with a brand-new season! The first six episodes of Love Is Blind season 6 premiered this past Wednesday, so the long weekend will be the perfect chance for viewers to get caught up so you can gossip with friends and keep tabs on what's coming in the next few weeks. New episodes debut on Wednesdays through March 6.
Thanksgiving (2023)
After all the romance of Valentine's Day week, maybe you're ready for something darker. Thanksgiving is the 2023 slasher movie set around the titular holiday and features a John Carver-mask-wearing assailant terrorizing the citizens of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Thanksgiving will begin streaming on Saturday, February 17. The film was directed by Hostel's Eli Roth. You can learn more (spoiler-free!) details about the movie right here.
Crossroads (2002)
On the other hand, if more romance is what you're after (and a healthy dose of nostalgia!) then now is the perfect time to revisit the classic Britney Spears rom-com Crossroads from 2002. The film just got added to Netflix and has already sparked several discussions from people checking out the movie from a 2024 lens. Spears co-stars alongside Zoe Saldana and Taryn Manning as a trio of childhood best friends who reconnect on a cross-country road trip.
The Vince Staples Show
For anyone who loved Atlanta, The Vince Staples Show might be a good follow-up as the creative series dips into some of the same hilarious surrealism as the aforementioned FX series from Donald Glover. Vince Staples is a talented rapper and actor and his new show is a semi-autobiographical sitcom that follows him through everyday challenges of life in his hometown of The Beach.
Players
Players is one of Netflix's latest original films. This sweet and raunchy romantic comedy stars Gina Rodriguez, Damon Wayans Jr., and Lucifer star Tom Ellis. Rodriguez stars as a sports writer named Mack who spends a significant amount of her time coming up with the perfect plays to score hookups with her best friends. But when a handsome war correspondent (Ellis) comes along, she finds herself questioning if she might want something more.
