On May 30, Netflix released its list of new and returning reality shows scheduled to be coming soon, and along with dropping the list, the streamer announced that it had renewed The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On and its spinoff The Ultimatum: Queer Love for new seasons. This is great news for reality TV fans!
We were wondering if these reality shows were ever going to return, seeing as though the original series aired its second season back in August 2023, while the spinoff aired its first season in May 2023. Netflix had been pretty much silent since the shows wrapped their seasons. Now, we finally know the fate of these addictive Netflix reality series. They're both returning with new seasons, and luckily, one of the shows will be releasing its new installment later this year.
Which show out of the two are we talking about, you ask? Well, it's the original series, The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. On Sept. 18, 2024, the third season will premiere on Netflix. Once again, we'll be introduced to six different couples who are on the verge of marriage, but one person feels more ready than the other. Each pair will be participating in an eight-week unconventional social experiment that tests their commitment. At the end of the experiment, each couple has to decide if they want to go forward with marriage or break up for good. In previous seasons, we've even seen some participants leave their original partner for somebody else involved in the experiment. It'll be interesting to see what each season 3 cast member decides to do in the end.
Nick and Vanessa Lachey, who hosted the previous two seasons, will return to host The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On season 3, which takes place in Arizona. While a total episode count hasn't been revealed, the third season is expected to have 10 episodes, which is the number of episodes that made up seasons 1 and 2. Besides the Lacheys returning to host, no other casting details have been revealed. Netflix will most likely announce the names of the new participants once we get closer to the release date.
Now, when it comes to The Ultimatum: Queer Love, fans can expect a brand new second season to land on Netflix sometime in 2025. Sweet Magnolias star JoAnna Garcia Swisher returns to host, and viewers will watch as a new group of six queer and non-binary couples try to figure out if they want to get married or split forever. This season will take place in Miami, and viewers can expect a total of 10 episodes.
That's all we know about the new seasons of The Ultimatum and its spinoff at the moment. As more juicy deets are revealed about these two reality shows, we'll make sure to return to this space to share what we found.
