The true story behind The Vow: Are Kim and Krickitt Carpenter still together?

When you think about all the best romantic drama films, The Vow should definitely be one of the movies that comes to mind. Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum play a recently married couple whose lives get turned upside down when they get into a bad car accident, and one of them suffers from severe memory loss. Both actors give outstanding performances in this film, and the strong chemistry between the two makes everything so much more believable. But what's the true story behind this box office hit?

Well, it's loosely based on the real-life relationship of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter. On Sept. 18, 1993, Kim and Krickitt experienced the best day of their lives: their wedding day. But just a couple of months later, tragedy strikes when Kim and Krickitt are involved in a serious car accident that leaves Krickitt in a coma for three weeks. She had suffered life-threatening brain trauma from the accident, and when she finally woke up, all of her memories of her husband and their marriage were erased.

But Kim didn't give up on Krickitt. He was committed to his wedding vows and stayed with her through her recovery, and slowly, they worked on rebuilding their relationship. They even renewed their vows in 1996 and later had two kids, a son and a daughter. But in 2018, that's when their marriage reached a standstill.

In October 2018, Kim publicly admitted to having had an affair and the couple split up after 25 years of marriage. At the time of their split in 2018, it was revealed that Kim was living with their son Danny while Krickitt was trying to move on and was living with their daughter LeeAnn.

As of February 2024, Krickett looks to be in a relationship with a man named Murphy. She posts him often on her Instagram page as well as her kids. When it comes to Kim, it's unclear if he's in a relationship, but he currently has his own Concrete Coatings company.
