It's officially August 2024, and Netflix has already released many new shows and movies on its platform this month. At the top of the month, the streamer released several family movies. We're talking new and old, licensed and original. These movies are perfect to watch when you want to spend quality time with the family.

If you and your family are having a hard time figuring out what to watch on movie night, you don't have to struggle any longer because we shared a list below of six family movies on Netflix that we believe the whole family will enjoy! Five of the films we're about to list were released on Netflix at the very beginning of August, while the last one is set to hit Netflix later this month.

Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie (2024)

Texas-loving squirrel scientist Sandy Cheeks finally got her own movie! In Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, we follow Sandy and SpongeBob as they head to Sandy's home state of Texas to save Bikini Bottom and its residents from the evil science lab, B.O.O.T.S. Laboratory.

The voice cast is made up of Carolyn Lawrence, Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Mr. Lawrence, Rodger Bumpass, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Matty Cardarople, and Wanda Sykes. You can stream this animated family movie on Netflix right now.

Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat (2003)

The Cat in the Hat is a live-action comedy film centering around two young siblings who are left at home to fend for themselves while their mother is at work. Since it's a rainy day, they're bored and have nothing fun to do. Well, that's until they're visited by an anthropomorphic talking cat named The Cat in the Hat, who introduces them to many silly games and leads them on a series of wild escapades.

Mike Myers stars as the titular character, The Cat in the Hat, while Dakota Fanning and Spencer Breslin play the two siblings, Sally and Conrad. Alec Baldwin, Kelly Preston, Amy Hill, Sean Hayes, and many others also star. This family movie is streaming now on Netflix.

Monster House (2006)

After discovering that a house in their suburban neighborhood is possessed by a malevolent entity, a group of pre-teens work together to put an end to its terror before it can harm anyone else. The voice cast includes many well-known actors, such as Steve Buscemi, Nick Cannon, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kevin James, Jason Lee, Catherine O'Hara, Kathleen Turner, and Fred Willard. Monster House is already available to stream on Netflix.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (2012)

Another animated family movie that's already streaming on Netflix is Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. The story takes place in the fictional town of Thneedville, a town devoid of vegetation. One of the town's residents, 12-year-old Ted Wiggins, wants to win over the girl of his dreams who desires to see a real tree. So, he sets out on a quest to find one, which leads him to the mysterious Once-ler, who tells him the truth about how Thneedville became a town where all vegetation is artificial.

Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Rob Riggle, Jenny Slate, Betty White, and many others are in the voice cast. You don't have to worry about waiting for its release because The Lorax is already streaming on Netflix.

The Emoji Movie (2017)

Set in a vibrant digital city known as Textopolis, the story follows a multi-expressional emoji named Gene who wishes to rid himself of the ability to make multiple expressions. So, he sets out on a journey with his fellow emoji friends, Hi-5 and Jailbreak, to find a way to become a "normal" emoji capable of only one expression. But along their journey, they encounter a great danger that threatens to destroy their world.

Migration (2023)

Migration follows a family of ducks as they attempt to embark on an adventurous migration journey from New England to Jamaica only to wind up lost in New York City. The voice cast comprises Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Keegan-Michael Key, Awkwafina, and Danny DeVito.
