Supersex has over 40 sex scenes: How graphic and explicit is the series?
By Diana Nosa
While we think that Supersex is the brand-new Netflix show you should watch this week if you want to know about the lifestyle of an adult entertainment icon, it would be unfair for us to not warn you of what you may encounter once you start streaming every episode on Netflix.
With this in mind, here's what to know about the creation of Supersex, including how erotic the show is.
Supersex has an astonishing number of sex scenes!
Supersex tells the real-life story of Rocco Siffredi's journey to become one of the most famous porn stars of all time, so it probably wouldn't come as a surprise to you that this Netflix original series filmed a whopping 40-50 unique sex scenes to reflect the lifelong career of Siffredi.
The series features graphic male and female nudity and, as stated above, features numerous sequences involving sexual acts between male and female partners. In particular, the fourth episode features actor Alessandro Borghi in a full-frontal scene in the final sequence. He has another in the fifth episode that's a closeup shot. Episode 6 includes a shot of the actor's penis in a cast following Rocco's injury.
As reported by Variety, Supersex pushed the envelope by being one of the few Netflix shows that have so many sex scenes in the first season alone. When thinking about the work and time that went into filming every scene, Alessandro Borghi, who stars as the porn legend, wanted to let the audience know that each scene served a purpose for the story.
"Every scene that has to do with sex, with porn, always involves a new narrative twist for the character. It's never because at that point in the narrative you needed to throw in some sex for the audience. [The sex scenes] can be Rocco's consecration, his happiness, or the way he faces pain."
- Alessandro Borghi, Variety
Rocco Siffredi, reflecting on the peak of his adult film career, supports Borghi's statements since Siffredi believes his alleged sex addiction was more than meets the eye.
"I have to tell you that [sex addiction] was a mix of problems connected with my personal life and the dependency that this job, for better or worse, sets forth in you when you’re on set 28 days every month doing two or three scenes a day. I don’t know if it was dependency or just desire. But I swear, it’s over."
- Rocco Siffredi, Variety
Although Siffredi doesn't feel this way now, the Netflix show aims to capture that dependency in a genuine way to highlight Siffredi's real-life experiences.

Rocco Siffredi warns about the dangers of porn
Although the Netflix series will feature a great number of sex scenes, Siffredi doesn't want to come off that sex and the consumption of sex is always a positive. Rather, he sheds a light on the ways that porn can be (and has been) very destructive to the human mind.
"We have [had] at least two different generations grow up with porn, [for] good and bad. In some ways it is good, because people are less problematic than I was when I was young. Then [in] the other direction, porn becomes more and more, let’s say, colourful… any kind of porn [you could want] is there. And lots of children watch. And probably they don’t understand what they watch."
- Rocco Siffredi, The Independent
Despite his ability to see the good and the bad of porn, Siffredi tells The Independent that he doesn't think it's up to him to reverse the path of those who may suffer from the effects of being constantly exposed to sex in media, as he notes that it's "adult entertainment," meaning adults should be mature enough to decide what's good or what's unhealthy for them.
Francesca Manieri, the mastermind behind Supersex, spoke on this same topic.
"What we can do as a culture and industry is to ask questions about it and to reflect on the fact that porn in the Seventies was avant-garde, very futuristic. At the beginning it was strictly connected with the power of sexuality. In this series… we wanted to reflect not exactly on porn, but on what porn is hiding."
- Francesca Manieri, The independent
Over 40 sex scenes may have taken audiences aback at first. But now that the intention behind each scene has been revealed, the cast and crew hope that audiences see these sex scenes only as a means to justify the ends.
Supersex is now streaming only on Netflix. The 2024 series is for mature audiences only.
