Space Jam: A New Legacy is now on Netflix! Here's who stars in the sports comedy film
By Mads Lennon
Love it or hate it, Space Jam is a beloved cult classic from the 1990s, so it wasn't surprising when Hollywood decided it was time for a sequel. Though Michael Jordan decided not to return, basketball superstar LeBron James had no problem stepping in to play a fictionalized version of himself in the 2021 standalone sequel Space Jam: A New Legacy. Warner Bros. licensed the movie to Netflix in April 2024 along with other hit titles like The Little Things and The Matrix.
The hilarious sports-action comedy from director Malcolm D. Lee (Night School) sees James and his on-screen son Dom get transported into a digitized world by a rogue AI voiced by Don Cheadle. To escape, the star athlete will have to work alongside beloved Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny (voiced by Zendaya!) to compete in a high-stakes basketball game against the AI's digitized team the Goon Squad.
Here's who stars in Space Jam: A New Legacy, now streaming on Netflix.
LeBron James is one of the most famous American basketball players of all time. A member of the Los Angeles Lakers, James is often compared to another notable NBA player, Michael Jackson. Funnily enough, James stepped in for Space Jam: A New Legacy after Jordan opted not to return for the sequel. While James is predominantly known for his NBA career, he's appeared as versions of himself in many films and sitcoms like Black Ice, House Party, My Wife and Kids, and Entourage. He also plays a version of himself in Space Jam: A New Legacy, along with voicing his animated counterpart.
