Sirens limited series on Netflix: Everything we know so far
By Reed Gaudens
In the past few years, Netflix has been on fire with its original limited series, with many of them becoming some of the most watched and most talked about shows of the year. Plenty of Netflix's limited series score multiple Emmy nominations, too. When it comes to limited series, the streaming service isn't slowing down a bit, having already announced the upcoming title Sirens.
The dark comedy limited series was first announced by Netflix in February 2024, as the streamer revealed it had teamed up with Margot Robbie's production company LuckyCap for the series. Sirens comes from Molly Smith Metzler, the Emmy Award nominated creator of Netflix's hit miniseries Maid, marking the writer's first collaboration with the streaming service since the show's 2021 release and the announcement of her overall deal with Netflix back in 2022. LuckyChap also produced Maid.
Sirens has already started to take shape as a limited series set to take over the world as an exciting, addictive binge-watch with amazing star power on screen. The series has nabbed so much incredible talent, and viewers can't wait to every second of the juicy drama. Here's everything to know so far about Sirens, including its synopsis, cast, and filming updates.
Sirens synopsis, cast, and updates
Deviating from the heartbreakingly realistic themes of Maid, Smith Metzler's newest limited series derives its story from her play Elemeno Pea. The Emmy-nominated writer penned the play during her time at The Juilliard School and first premiered the production back in 2011, according to Variety.
In the series, the relationship between a powerful socialite and her new employee takes cult-ish turns and comes to a head during a weekend at the wealthy woman's luxury beachside abode. The worries of a sister are met with even more conflict from the socialite, and it's seemingly game on.
Here's the official synopsis of Sirens via Netflix's press release:
"Devon thinks her sister Simone has a really creepy relationship with her new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell. Michaela’s cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it’s time for an intervention. When Devon tracks her sister down to say WTF, she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be. Told over the course of one explosive weekend at The Kells’ lavish beach estate, Sirens is an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class."
The three key roles in the limited series are played by a trio of truly incredible actresses. Academy Award winner Julianne Moore leads the cast as philanthropist Michaela Kell, who's married to billionaire Peter Kell (Kevin Bacon). House of the Dragon breakout Milly Alcock portrays Michaela's susceptible assistant Simone, while Emmy-nominated The White Lotus star Meghann Fahy plays her concerned but troubled sister Devon.
Additional cast members include It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Glenn Howerton as wealthy bachelor and friend of the Kell family Ethan Corbin, The Other Two and Abbott Elementary standout Josh Segarra as Devon's toxic boyfriend Raymond, and Felix Solis as the manager of the Kells' household. Bill Camp joined the series as Devon and Simone's father Bruce.

On July 9, Smith Metzler announced with a post on Instagram that filming had officially begun in New York. The creator shared a photo of the clapboard with the show's title and captioned the post, "DAY ONE! Grateful," which was accompanied but the prayer hands emoji.
Smith Metzler has been keeping her followers updated on the progress of production and the various casting announcements, first sharing a photo of the writer's room in May and then in July snapping a picture with director Nicole Kassell, who's helming the first two episodes. She hasn't yet shared any photos of the cast in action, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled.
Netflix hasn't confirmed the episode count for Sirens, though it's likely to be between six and eight, even up to 10. With filming having begun in July, production surely continues through August and possibly September. Smith Metzler will no doubt reveal when filming wraps. Post-production will take us through the rest of the year and into next year for a predicted release sometime in the second half of 2025.
