Outer Banks band The Runarounds gets their own show (but it's not an OBX spinoff)

In an unexpected musical twist of fate, Amazon has greenlighted an eight-episode series, following a tight-knit group of young adults from "all walks of life who come together to form a rock band the summer after graduating from high school".

According to insiders, this music drama, brought to life by Outer Banks creator Jonah Pate and the creative mind behind Fringe, David Wilcox, promises an epic journey of the band's quest for fame. While the series is not a direct spinoff of Netflix's Outer Banks, it will feature the same group - The Runarounds - that were previously featured in a season three episode. 

The fictional drama is a blend of reality and fiction, drawing inspiration from the actual experiences of The Runarounds, and will feature the real-life band’s members - William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, and Jesse Golliher — along with Lilah Pate and Kelley Pereira.

The highly-anticipated eight-episode series of The Runarounds is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video, reaching music enthusiasts in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. Jonas Pate, who's behind the pilot episode shot in 2022, takes on the role of executive producer alongside David Wilcox, Joon Yun, Josh Pate, Shannon Burke, Lisa Mae Fincannon, and Scott Lambert. The lineup also includes David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell from Skydance Television. Expressing his excitement, Matt Thunell shared:

Is The Runarounds connected to Outer Banks?
