Netflix sets Agatha Christie series The Seven Dials Mystery cast with trio of stars
We finally know who will be starring in the leading role of Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent in the upcoming Netflix series adaptation of Agatha Christie's The Seven Dials Mystery. It's none other than BAFTA Rising Star Award winner Mia McKenna-Bruce (How to Have Sex, Get Even, Persuasion)! More on her casting and the show below.
We first learned of this series adaptation back in April 2024 when Netflix announced that it had ordered it. It was announced that Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall would be writing the scripts with Chris Sweeney (The Tourist, Back to Life) directing and executive producing. Chibnall will also be executive producing through his company Imaginary Friends. Other executive producers include Suzanne Mackie of Orchid Pictures, James Prichard of Agatha Christie Limited, Andy Stebbing, and Chris Sussman. Joanna Crow is signed on as a producer.
The three-part series is set in England in 1925. A lavish country house party is being held with many guests in attendance. But the house party ends badly when one of the guests winds up dead. Young, determined sleuth Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent is hellbent on solving the murder mystery, so she decides to take investigative matters into her own hands. But as she investigates and tries to find the killer, she only puts her life at risk.
Joining McKenna-Bruce in the cast are Academy Award-nominated actress Helena Bonham Carter (Enola Holmes, One Life, Nolly) as Lady Caterham and Emmy Award-winning actor Martin Freeman (Sherlock, The Hobbit film trilogy, Secret Invasion) as Superintendent Battle. New cast additions should be announced soon as filming gears up to start.
Here's what Mackie had to say about being a part of this series adaptation as an executive producer via Netflix:
"I am excited to be bringing The Seven Dials Mystery to life, and to be introducing a new generation of iconic Christie characters to the screen. It has been a joy to work with Chris Chibnall in creating this bold, authored, and ambitious vision for the series. Together with Chris Sussman and Agatha Christie Limited and, under the masterful direction of Chris Sweeney, we are thrilled to embark on this creative journey. I could not think of a more exciting first project for Orchid Pictures, or a more perfect home for this story than Netflix."
- Suzanne Mackie of Orchid Pictures
Prichard, who is not only an executive producer but also Agatha Christie’s great-grandson, also had something to say about being involved in the production of The Seven Dials Mystery series adaptation.
"Bundle Brent is one of my great-grandmother’s raft of interesting, humorous, sharp, young female characters. To see her brought to life through the words of Chris Chibnall and this production with Orchid Pictures and Netflix is a dream come true. I think viewers will love this world that we have created, and hope for more."
- James Prichard
The cameras are set to start rolling this summer. Once we have more information on the production schedule and really just on the Netflix series as a whole, we'll be sure to update this space with what we found. So, stay tuned to Netflix Life!
