Netflix is adding 19 new movies and shows this week (April 7, 2024)

A new week is here and with it comes a few new movies and shows to the Netflix lineup. This week, the new additions include a new season of a teen drama, a new animated show, and a new star-studded short.

First up is season 2 of Heartbreak High! The new season hits Netflix on Thursday, April 11, 2024. The teen romance drama follows two outsiders as they start going to Hartley High. They must navigate school, relationships, friendships, sex, and of course, heartbreak. While there was plenty of drama and intrigue in season 1, there will be a few new students and a new teacher to make season 2 just as exciting.

But while there will be a few new additions, your old favorites are there as well. The returning cast includes Ayesha Madon, Chloé Hayden, Thomas Weatherall, James Majoos, Asher Yasbincek, Will McDonald, Gemma Chua-Tran, Bryn Chapman Parish, Sherry-Lee Watson, Brodie Townsend and Josh Heuston.

You can also check out Good Times this week! The new animated series based (loosely) on the 1970s show heads to Netflix on Friday, April 12. The series will follow the Evans family as they deal with the struggles that come with race, class, and other social issues in America. Based on the social media response alone, this show is likely to receive some backlash.

Heartbreak High season 2 and Strange Way of Life on Netflix this week

The characters will be voiced by Yvette Nicole Brown, JB Smoove, Marsai Martin, Wanda Sykes, Jay Pharaoh, and Gerald Johnson.

This week also brings the star-studded Strange Way of Life. The short stars Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal as well as Pedro Casablanc, Manu Ríos, George Steane, Jason Fernández, and José Condessa.

The short follows two friends, Silva and Jake. After 25 years apart, Silva makes the trip to visit Jake, but it turns out this is much more than just a trip to see a long-lost friend. It looks like a love story and a play on a classic western. It hits Netflix on Friday, April 12.
