Netflix is adding 13 new movies and shows this week (Jan. 14, 2024)

Netflix doesn't have anything huge coming this week, but there are still a few new movies and shows headed to the lineup, including a new season of a kids' series, a musical movie from 2019, and a new anime series.

First up this week is season 9 of Cocomelon. It heads to Netflix on Monday, Jan 15, 2024. The kids' musical series allows your kids to learn their letters, numbers, animal sounds, and more as they follow JJ. With nursery rhymes and lots of different songs, the show can keep your children entertained for hours. Although, for your sake, maybe limit how much they're able to watch.

This week also brings the musical (and sometimes horrifying) Cats! The 2019 adaptation of the Broadway musical starred James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Robbie Fairchild, Francesca Hayward, Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson, and Ian McKellen. The movie comes to Netflix on Tuesday, Jan 16 and follows a tribe of cats called the Jellicles who must choose which one of them will go to the Heavenside Layer.

You can also check out maboroshi this week on Monday, Jan 15. The animated series occurs after an explosion at a factory that ends up freezing a town in time. This leaves Masamune and his friends to figure out how to live in their new world. One day, Masamune and his classmate make their way to the steelworks factory that started it all, and when there, they find a girl who is feral and cannot talk. Together, they end up upsetting the balance that has settled over their timeless world.
