Netflix has found its John Creasy in Emmy Award-winning actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Watchmen, Wonder Man). Ordered by the streaming giant back in March 2023, a Man on Fire series adaptation is currently in the works with Abdul-Mateen leading the cast. More on this upcoming show below.

As mentioned above, Netflix announced a series order for Man on Fire early last year. It's a television series adaptation based on A.J. Quinnell’s novels Man on Fire and The Perfect Kill, which are the first two books in his five-book Creasy series. The Man on Fire novel was previously adapted into the 2004 film of the same name starring Denzel Washington as well as the 1987 Italian movie of the same name starring Scott Glenn.

New Regency Productions and Chernin Entertainment are the production companies behind the new drama series. Kyle Killen, who is best known for developing the Paramount+ military sci-fi series Halo, is signed on to write and executive produce. He'll be executive producing under his Chapter 11 banner. In addition, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Bill McGoldrick, and Juan Alfonso will be executive producing for Chernin Entertainment under their Netflix deal, while Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Michael Schaefer will be executive producing under New Regency Productions. Scott Pennington will also executive produce through Chapter 11.

The series adaptation has been confirmed to consist of eight episodes. Steven Caple Jr. will direct the first two episodes of the show and also serve as an executive producer. Abdul-Mateen will star in the leading role of John Creasy, "a broken ex-mercenary on a mission to avenge the death of his only friend, while protecting his fallen comrade's daughter from the forces that destroyed her family." He is also signed on as an executive producer.

That's all we know about the Man on Fire series adaptation as of right now. As we learn new information about this upcoming Netflix show, we'll be sure to come back and update this space with what we found. So, stay tuned to Netflix Life!
