Netflix just handed out its second renewal of 2024 (see which spinoff is coming back for season 2)

2024 has started off on a rather quiet note for Netflix with the streaming service only handing out one renewal and one cancellation thus far this year, but the list of Netflix shows renewed in 2024 has just grown again after Netflix handed out a season 2 order to a freshman hit from 2023!
As first reported by TVLine, Netflix has handed out a season 2 renewal to Money Heist spinoff Berlin, meaning the series will continue beyond its first season which premiered in late December. While little information is known at this time, we do know that Pedro Alonso will be returning as the title character Berlin for "a new heist and more love."
Not only will Alonso be coming back, but it has also been confirmed that Michelle Jenner (Keila), Tristán Ulloa (Damián), Begoña Vargas (Cameron), Julio Peña Fernández (Roi), and Joel Sánchez (Bruce) will also be coming back for the show's second season. That's right, all of your favorite characters will be returning for season 2 with no major cast departures expected for the show's second season!
Berlin season 2 is happening, but won't be coming for a while
While the good news is that Berlin season 2 is coming, the bad news is that it sounds like we're going to be in for a long wait for the show's second season. As in the show might not be coming back with new episodes until late 2025 or possibly even 2026.
According to renewal reports, filming on season 2 will not begun until 2025 meaning we won't be getting new episodes for at least a year. Depending on when filming begins and how long filming takes, there is a chance we could see season 2 arrive in the final months of 2025; however, there is also a chance we could have to wait until 2026 for the second season which would definitely be a disappointment.
Season 1 debuted on December 29, 2023, and became the most-watched series globally in its premeire week breaking into the Top 10 in 91 countries. The show has since gone on to become the ninth most-watched non-English series in Netflix history, so it's no surprise the show will be coming back for a second season. We just can't believe Netflix is going to make fans wait so long for new episodes!
