July is here, and as occurs at the beginning of every month, Netflix is adding a ton of new movies and shows. This week, you can check out a new season of a Star Trek show, a new Eddie Murphy movie, and a new season of a cooking competition show.

First up is Star Trek: Prodigy! The second season hits Netflix on Monday, July 1, 2024. The series follows a group of enslaved teens who escape by stealing a Starfleet ship and traveling throughout the galaxy. In season 2, the team of teens is assigned to rescue Captain Chakotay and bring peace to Gwyn's home. But, as you might expect, things don't go smoothly for the team. They get stuck in a time paradox that threatens all of their pasts and futures.

The big movie of the week is Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F! It comes to Netflix on Wednesday, July 3, and features many of the same cast from the original trilogy, including Eddie Murphy, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Bronson Pinchot, and Paul Reiser. It also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kevin Bacon, and Taylour Paige.

This new movie follows Axel Foley as he returns to Beverly Hills after his daughter's life is threatened. He teams up with his old coworkers to discover and take down the people making the threats, but they find a much bigger conspiracy than just one threat.

Barbecue Showdown season 3 is also headed to Netflix this week. You can check out the cooking competition show on Thursday, July 4. There really couldn't be a more perfect show to watch on the Fourth of July, especially if you aren't going to or having a barbecue. Although, I don't recommend watching this show hungry.

The series follows nine amazing pitmasters and backyard BBQ kings/queens as they compete for the title of barbecue champion.

This week also brings all six seasons of Lost, all three Back to the Future movies, and season 9 of Suits on Monday, July 1. You can also catch The Imaginary and Desperate Lies on Friday, July 5.
