Netflix is adding 12 new movies and shows this week (Dec 17, 2023)

A new week is here, and while we're rapidly getting closer to Christmas and 2024, there are still plenty of new movies and shows headed to Netflix. The new additions include an Oscar contender, a new comedy special, and a much-anticipated sci-fi movie.

Maestro is probably the biggest movie coming to Netflix this week. It hits the streaming service on Wednesday, Dec 20, 2023 and tells the story of composer Leonard Bernstein and his relationship with his wife, Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. The movie follows his career and focuses particularly on the relationship between Leonard and Felicia.

The cast include Bradley Cooper, Carey Mulligan, Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton, and Scott Ellis.

This week also brings Zach Snyder's Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire. The film stars Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Jena Malone, Ed Skrein, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, and Anthony Hopkins.

The movie follows a settlement that is threatened by a tyrant. But there is one person among their group who might just be able to save them all. The first part of the movie hits Netflix on Friday, Dec 22.
