Netflix is adding 54 new movies and shows this week (Sept. 29, 2024)

A new week is here and it not only brings new movies and shows to Netflix, it also ushers in October and the truly official start of spooky season! There are plenty of horror movies coming to Netflix on Tuesday, Oct. 1, including The Birds, Halloween (2018), Psycho, and It Chapter Two.

On top of that, you can look forward to the first season of a popular survival drama, a new season of a true crime show, and a new season of an incredibly cute teen series.

First up this week is season 1 of Yellowjackets! The series hits Netflix on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024. The show stars Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Tawney Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, and Jasmin Savoy Brown and follows a girl's high school soccer team after their plane crashes in the Canadian wilderness. It may start as a coming-of-age story, but it gets dark pretty quickly.

A new volume of Unsolved Mysteries is also headed to Netflix this week! You can check out volume 5 on Wednesday, Oct. 2. This time, the mysteries include the Roswell Incident as well as a number of unsolved murders, and a paranormal case as well. This is the perfect thing to watch in the lead-up to Halloween.

Looking for something on the lighter side? Season 3 of Heartstopper is finally here! It hits Netflix on Thursday, Oct. 3. This season will continue to focus on Charlie's mental health as well as the L word (love). Charlie and Nick continue to learn more about each other and this season is the epitome of that as they wade through the waters of Charlie's struggles together. We also get to see how their friends' relationships are looking as they grow older together.

Heartstopper and Unsolved Mysetiers coming to Netflix this week

There are also a few new characters this season, with Hayley Atwell as Nick's aunt, Diane, and Jonathan Bailey as Charlie's celebrity crush, Jack Maddox.

This week also brings Chef's Table: Noodles on Wednesday, Oct. 2, The Bad Guys: Haunted Heist on Thursday, Oct. 3, and S.W.A.T. season 7 on Friday, Oct. 4.
