Jennifer Garner in a Christmas movie: It makes a whole lot of sense, doesn't it? As far as movie stars go, Garner's one that's universally loved for both her talent and overall positive demeanor. She's truly a bright light in our world. But somehow, she has never starred in a Christmas movie. How could that be?! Well, thanks to Netflix and Reese Witherspoon, that's all about to change.

According to a report from Deadline published on April 3, Jennifer Garner has signed on to star in the upcoming Netflix original Christmas movie Mrs. Claus. As of the announcement, the film doesn't yet have a director and the plot details haven't been revealed, which means we don't currently know if Garner is playing the titular Mrs. Claus (though we'd be willing to venture that she is).

However, we do know that the movie will be written by Leah McKendrick, known for writing the movie Scrambled and the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel. Reese Witherspoon will produce Mrs. Claus with her production company Hello Sunshine, reteaming Witherspoon and Garner after working together on the Apple TV+ series The Last Thing He Told Me.

Since The Last Thing He Told Me became Apple's most-watched limited series yet, the show earned a second-season renewal and will be back with a brand-new story centered on Garner's character Hannah Hall. All things come in threes, which is true for Garner as she also signed on for the Max true crime film Fruitcake. As they say, she's booked and busy!

Jennifer Garner's history with Netflix

Even though Netflix hasn't officially revealed what Mrs. Claus will be about, the prospect of Jennifer Garner starring in a holiday movie is enough to get excited about. She's constantly a source of joy on Netflix, whether it's any of her three original movies with the streamer or one of her past favorites drumming up wonderful nostalgia. We've all watched 13 Going on 30 on Netflix a million times.

It's worth noting that the last three movies Garner starred in have all been Netflix originals. The first original movie Garner ever did with streamer, 2021's Yes Day, became a viewership hit, enough that a sequel was put into development later that year. (Since then, there has been no news or updates on the status of Yes Day 2.) She returned to Netflix with 2022's sci-fi action movie The Adam Project, which was headline by Ryan Reynolds, and again in 2023 with the holiday-adjacent comedy Family Switch.

While she will next be seen reprising her role as Elektra in this summer's Deadpool & Wolverine, it's worth noting that the vast majority of her projects this decade have been for streaming services. She also seems to be having the best time. By far, she was the best part of The Last Thing He Told Me, and both of her family movies on Netflix were a blast, on and surely off screen.

We can't wait to learn more information about Mrs. Claus and for Jennifer Garner to continue her growing history with Netflix in what's sure to be a new holiday season staple. Yes, we're predicting that without even knowing who she's playing and what the movie will even be about. And while we're at it, is it too much to ask for a Reese Witherspoon cameo? That might be too greedy.
