5 movies leaving Netflix in July 2024
By Bryce Olin
It's almost time to say goodbye to some movies leaving Netflix at the end of July 2024. If you're looking for something to watch on Netflix, we highly recommend taking a look at the list and picking one of these good movies to watch on Netflix before they head to another streaming service.
For those who don't know, Netflix adds new movies every month, and new movies leave Netflix throughout every month. Because of licensing agreements, most of the new movies are added to Netflix on the first day of every month, and most of the movies leave Netflix on the last day of the month.
Luckily, there aren't too many big movies leaving Netflix in July, but there are definitely more than a few that you should watch at least one more time.
Let's get the list started with one of the most popular movies on Netflix right now, Shrek!
Shrek
Last day to watch: July 31
Does anyone not like Shrek? This has been one of the best animated comedies of all time! Shrek 5 actually just got announced this summer. The fifth movie of the franchise comes out in the summer of 2026. If that makes you nostalgic, it's time to watch Shrek on Netflix!
In the film, Shrek, an ogre, sets off on a quest to find Princess Fiona, rescue her from a dragon, and bring her to Lord Farquaad to be his bride. In return, Lord Farquaad will allow Shrek to live annoyance-free in his swamp.
Only the first Shrek movie is streaming on Netflix right now, but you can easily find the other Shrek movies on other streaming services if you're up for a marathon.
Knocked Up
Last day to watch: July 31
Knocked Up is one of my favorite of Seth Rogen's movies. Unfortunately, it's also leaving Netflix at the end of the month.
Rogen stars in the film alongside Katherine Heigl, Leslie Mann, Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Martin Starr, and more. In the film, Alison (Heigl) and Ben (Rogen) meet at a bar during a night out. One thing leads to another, and Alison ends up pregnant. The couple tries to make it work while Alison prepares for the baby's arrival.
Knocked Up and This Is 40, a spinoff of sorts of the film, make a great pairing for movie night; I'm just saying. You can watch Knocked Up on Netflix, but you might have to rent or buy This Is 40.
The Matrix
Last day to watch: July 31
The Matrix is a must-watch for me every time the movie is available to stream on Netflix. It's great to look back and see how much Keanu Reeves still rocks 25 years later.
All four Matrix movies are streaming on Netflix right now. Unfortunately, the first three (The Matrix, Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, and The Matrix Revolutions) are leaving on July 31. The Matrix Resurrections will remain on the streaming service for now.
Time is running out for that last Matrix marathon on Netflix!
Role Models
Last day to watch: July 31
Paul Rudd stars in Role Models with Seann William Scott. In the series, the pair play adults who are forced to attend a court-ordered Big Brother-Big Sister program to help youths. Things don't go very well!
Role Models is a fun, silly comedy to watch on Netflix. If you haven't seen it, you should definitely give it a watch. It's very similar to other R-rated comedies of the late 2010s. Rudd is great in this movie, too!
300: Rise of an Empire
Last day to watch: July 31
If you've already watched Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon film series or need something to watch while you wait for the R-rated director's cuts of the movie, we have the perfect movie for you to watch! 300, directed by Snyder, is leaving Netflix on July 31. Fans of Snyder love this movie. It's definitely a vibe, although it's not one of my favorites.
The action film tells the story of the 300 Spartan soldiers who try to hold off the Persian army in the Battle of Thermopylae. It's also based on Frank Miller's comic series of the same name.
I promise there are no wheat harvesting scenes!
That's the list of movies to watch before they leave in July. Stay tuned for the full list of new movies and shows coming in August.
