With the recent addition of shark-centric survival thrillers like Deep Fear and Meg 2: The Trench on Netflix, subscribers might be interested in seeing what other shark-attack movies and creature features are available to watch on the platform.

Unfortunately, there aren't many options outside of sharks, though Anaconda is coming on February 1, but there are a few! For a non-shark creature feature, I recommend The Swarm, The Ritual, or 65. Keep reading to see our picks for some of the most intense shark movies on Netflix right now.

The Meg (2018) and Meg 2: The Trench (2023)

Jason Statham stars in The Meg and its sequel, Meg 2: The Trench, a series loosely based on the 1997 novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten. Even though The Meg is a Warner Bros. property, the films were recently added to Netflix as part of a recent licensing push since the streamer is licensing more older content, particularly from WB.

The first film centers around the sudden resurgence of the Megalodon, a massive prehistoric shark previously thought to be extinct. It terrorizes a crew led by oceanographer Jonas Taylor (Statham) trapped at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Statham returns in the 2023 sequel to lead a research team on an exploratory dive, but a mining operation threatens to upend everything and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival against monstrous sharks and... dinosaurs?

Deep Fear (2023)

Naomi (Madalina Ghenea) is on what should be a relaxing trip on a gorgeous yacht to visit her boyfriend, but when a storm knocks her boat off-course, she's forced into a dangerous situation that leads her to a distress call from another vessel.

When Naomi arrives to help, she discovers these "survivors" are actually drug traffickers who force her to dive into shark-infested waters to retrieve several hundreds of kilos of cocaine displaced by the choppy weather. Deep Fear is a recent Netflix acquisition and despite getting negative reviews from critics, it quickly entered the Top 10.

47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019)

Four teenage girls must navigate a treacherous underwater labyrinth when their exciting adventure to explore underwater Mayan ruins goes terribly wrong. What begins as an adrenaline junkie's dream soon turns into a nightmare when the teens realize they've gotten lost and they're surrounded by sharks inside a claustrophobic underwater location. 47 Meters Down: Uncaged is a sequel to 47 Meters Down, the first film is not currently on Netflix but is streaming on Starz.

Mako (2021)

Inspired by true events, Mako is a Middle Eastern film following a group of eight divers exploring a sunken passenger ship beneath the Red Sea to create a documentary. Not long after reaching their destination, they find themselves facing all sorts of terrifying creatures and oceanic frights.

Soul Surfer (2011)

Soul Surfer isn't a scary or intense shark attack film, but it is based on the uplifting true story of Bethany Hamilton. After losing an arm in a shark attack, Bethany slowly rebuilds her life alongside her parents and rediscovers her passion for surfing and even returns to competitive surfing. AnnaSophie Robb stars alongside Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt.
