6 most disliked Sweet Magnolias characters, ranked
Get ready because Sweet Magnolias season 4 is currently in the works with a predicted late 2024 release! We can't wait to return to the fictional town of Serenity, South Carolina for a fourth run to see what all our favorite Sweet Magnolias have been up to.
But it's going to be a while before we see the new season on our screens. So, what do we do in the meantime? Well, we've decided to rank some of the show's characters. More specifically, we decided to rank the show's most disliked characters from least disliked to most disliked.
Are you curious to know which characters made our list? Find out below!
6. Cal
I don't have much to say about Cal other than the fact that he's boring to me and the random "anger issues" that the writers introduced in the second season just seemed so unnecessary. That's why I ranked him as the least disliked out of all the disliked Sweet Magnolias characters on the list. Also, I don't see the chemistry between him and Maddie, so it makes it hard for me to watch their love/intimate scenes. Hopefully, I begin to see the appeal in season 4.
5. Jackson
I'm still trying to figure out how Annie just forgave Jackson so quickly and decided to date him after all the bad things he did to Ty and even her. Remember the voice memo Annie had sent to Ty about her liking him and Jackson went and sent it to everyone at the school? She was so humiliated. I guess Annie totally forgot about that. While Jackson has somewhat of a redemption arc in season 2, all of his prior actions from season 1 make it hard for me to like him as a character even if he has seemingly evolved.
4. Ryan
What grinds my gears the most about Ryan is that he always pops in and out of Helen's life, especially when she's doing well for herself. He knows that he's not ready to settle down, yet he keeps selling Helen false dreams. Helen has a good man (Erik) who's willing to settle down and have kids, but with Ryan coming in and out of her life, will she ever truly give him a chance? Stop giving Helen whiplash, Ryan, and leave her alone for good!
3. Noreen
Noreen is a home-wrecker, and for that, she will never be a good person in my book. She wants everyone to sympathize with her but doesn't really take responsibility for her actions. How the whole town of Serenity, including the Sweet Magnolias, just forgives her is beyond me. She's literally helping out at the spa that Maddie co-owns. There isn't enough forgiveness in the world for me to forgive and be buddy-buddy with a woman who was one of the causes of my divorce.
2. Bill
Bill had an affair and then expected Maddie to just act like it never happened. Like she didn't have the right to be mad about him stepping out on their marriage. He would also parade around town with Noreen like he did nothing wrong. Then, he had the audacity to be jealous about Maddie moving on with Cal. That's what annoyed me about Bill in season 1.
However, he has since worked on himself and wants to be better for his kids, and for that, I can respect. If only Maddie and the rest of the Sweet Magnolias can see the change in Bill. I mean, they quickly welcomed Noreen in with open arms.
1. Dana Sue
This show wants to make it seem as though Cal has anger issues, but what about Dana Sue? This woman is easily angered and over the smallest things. She's also self-centered. And don't get me started on her parenting skills... The Worst Parent of the Year Award goes to Dana Sue.
She's constantly chastising Annie and most of the time it's not even that serious. Remember when she was mad that Annie posted pictures on social media that showed Serenity in a bad light in season 1? Then, there was that other time when she demanded that Annie give her her essay once she was finished so that she could proofread it.
It's Dana Sue's way or the highway, and if you try to voice your opinion to her, she'll quickly shut you down and throw a tantrum. It doesn't matter who you are.
