A new sports drama film to check out at the end of March is The Beautiful Game. It tells a heartfelt and inspiring story of a coach and his team of underdog athletes as they head to Rome to compete in the Homeless World Cup. It's slated to be released on Netflix on March 29, so mark your calendar.

Based on the real-life Homeless World Cup, The Beautiful Game follows Mal, a coach of England’s homeless football team, as he takes his players to Rome for a global street soccer tournament, otherwise known as the Homeless World Cup. He hopes that he and his players will win and be crowned champions, and to better their chances, he brings along a talented yet troubled striker named Vinny. But Vinny must overcome his past first to become part of the team.

Well-known English actor Bill Nighy stars in the leading role of Mal, a determined coach of England’s homeless football team. Nighy is a Golden Globe Award-winning actor best known for his previous role as Billy Mack in the rom-com Love Actually. Some of his other acting work includes roles in the movies Shaun of the Dead, the Underworld film series, the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, Valkyrie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Living. In fact, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Mr. Rodney Williams in Living.

He most recently appeared in the action comedy film Role Play. We'll see him next in the supernatural horror film The First Omen, which is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 5, 2024. He also voices the character, Longneck, in the upcoming animated film The Wild Robot, which will be released in theaters on Sept. 20, 2024. For Netflix, he's set to star in the upcoming drama film Joy. Lastly, he'll be in the upcoming crime thriller series Lazarus, which will be released on Amazon Prime Video.

Jamaican-British actor Micheal Ward plays the role of troubled young football player, Vinny. You might recognize Ward from his main role as Jamie in the hit Netflix crime drama Top Boy. He also starred as Lykon in Netflix's The Old Guard, as Judas Iscariot in the comedy-drama flick The Book of Clarence and as Brendan in the short-lived British teen series The A List. We'll see him next in the upcoming contemporary Western film Eddington, which also stars Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Luke Grimes, and many other gifted actors.
