Maid star Margaret Qualley returning to Netflix in Forever, Interrupted limited series
By Reed Gaudens
The star of one of Netflix's most popular miniseries is teaming up with the streaming service again for another limited series, and it's sure to be just as big of a hit. Margaret Qualley, the Emmy Award-nominated star of Netflix's beloved limited series Maid, will star in Forever, Interrupted alongside Laura Dern, both of whom will be executive producing.
According to Deadline, Netflix won the rights to Forever, Interrupted, which comes from A24, producer Jessica Rhoades, and writer-showrunner Julia Bicknell. The limited series is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, who also wrote Daisy Jones and The Six and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, the latter of which will be a movie on Netflix.
Qualley will play the leading role, newlywed Elsie, who has fallen head over heels for her husband Ben during their whirlwind romance. However, when Ben tragically passes away before the couple can truly revel in their forever, Elsie must meet her mother-in-law Susan, played by Academy Award and Emmy Award-winner Laura Dern. Susan didn't know her son had gotten married.
The series will tell the story of Elsie and Ben's romance, while also tapping into the dual timeline of Elsie and Susan getting to know each other and leaning on each other in their time of mourning. It seems they don't initially hit it off before unexpectedly coming together to process and navigate their next chapters. In short, make sure to have a tissue box handy when this one drops.
When the 10-episode drama limited series Maid premiered on Netflix in October 2021, the show became a huge viewership hit. Qualley landed an Emmy Award nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. It's a wonder it took Netflix so long to get the talented star in another project, but Forever, Interrupted sounds like the perfect kismet.
