Rhythm and Flow season 2 is officially happening at Netflix, and we couldn't be more excited about this show's return. It's been over four years since the first season came out, so we're more than ready to see who will be crowned the next rap superstar.

As of Jan. 18, the second season of the music competition series is currently in production. But it's set to be released on Netflix later this year. We'll get back to you with the official release date once it's announced.

But in the meantime, here's everything else you need to know about Rhythm and Flow season 2.

What is Rhythm and Flow season 2 about?

Once again, viewers watch contestants from all over the United States battle it out and really show off their rap skills for the chance to win a grand prize of $250,000 and the title of hip-hop's new sensation.

Here's the official synopsis via the Netflix press release:

"Rhythm + Flow, Netflix’s hip hop music competition hosted by a panel of industry heavy hitters ready to discover the next generation’s rap star. This competition will feature contestants from all over the country who are hungry and ready to prove themselves to see if they have what it takes to take home the grand prize of $250,000 and the title of hip hop’s newest star."

Last season, the judges were hip-hop artists Cardi B, T.I., and Chance the Rapper. In several episodes, they were also joined by guest judges such as music artists like Snoop Dogg, Fat Joe, Miguel, Quavo, and Nipsey Hussle. After 10 episodes, the judges finally crowned a winner, and it was D Smoke, who has since become a Grammy-nominated artist.

This season, the new judges are Grammy winners DJ Khaled and Ludacris, and Grammy-nominated rapper Latto. They will also be joined by Grammy Award-winning rapper Eminem as a special guest judge during the competition’s battles round. Netflix says he'll be joining "from a surprise location." The streamer also announced that additional music industry guests will be revealed at a later date.
