Julio Iglesias and Netflix are partnering up to tell the true story of the legendary Spanish singer in a new documentary series coming soon to the streaming giant!

Spanish legend, Julio Iglesias, and father of Enrique Iglesias, is getting his well-deserved Netflix moment with the streaming giant announcing on Thursday, February 8, 2024, an upcoming documentary series about the To All the Girls I've Loved Before singer’s life.

Following the announcement, the legendary singer released a statement of his own revealing that "for the first time" he will be part of the creative process, and he will tell the truth about his life, with a little help from the streaming giant. He said:

"After the many speculations, books and documentaries in which I have not been involved, for the first time I have decided to tell the truth about my life to a universal company like Netflix, after much deliberation, finally, a very touching letter sent to me by Bela Bajaria, chief content officer at Netflix, was enough to convince me that Netflix was the ideal company to develop this project. I feel grateful to a lot of people from many countries who have supported me and have boosted my life."

What will the Julio Iglesias docu-series be about?

The highly anticipated documentary series, which is currently in development, will tell the life story of how he became the first “universal star” and non-English artist to break into American and Asian markets, according to Netflix's Media Center. With over 55 years in the music industry, and a dedicated global fan base, Julio Iglesias' story of how became the first Spanish artist to have his songs sung all over the planet, will be a must-watch on Netflix.

Diego Ávalos, vice president of content at Netflix, shared a statement of his own, following the news, saying:

"Julio Iglesias has trusted us to tell his story. We are very grateful for his generosity. We all know that his talent and tenacity are unique in the world. Now, we will have the opportunity to see beyond the lights, the pictures in the magazines, the gold records and to really get to know in depth an exceptional person who has accompanied and will accompany many generations in every corner of the planet."

When is the Julio Iglesias docu-series coming to Netflix?

Currently, the Julio Iglesias docu-series, as mentioned, is in development and additional details like its release have yet to be announced. After all, Netflix is on a mission to capture the essence of the legendary singer's life and career authentically, and that's no easy feat!
