Jessica Alba is so back! The actress and entrepreneur launched her brand-new Netflix movie Trigger Warning, her first acting role in almost five years, on June 21. During the movie's first three days of release on the streaming service, Trigger Warning ranked as the most-watched title on Netflix, bringing in 25.7 million views in its opening weekend. That's an amazing stat!

For comparison sake, Jennifer Lopez's sci-fi action thriller Atlas launched one month before Trigger Warning and scored 28.2 million views in its first two days, according to Deadline. Both movies feature Latinx leading women who also produced their respective movies. It's such an achievement, and it's exciting to watch these talented women break down walls.

Alba's movie was even able to pull a higher viewership than Bridgerton season 3's prevailing dominance over the weekend. As fans continue to catch up on the conclusion of the most talked about season of the romantic drama yet, Bridgerton season 3 raked in 16.5 million views over the course of part 2's first full week of release, per Variety. Jessica Alba put up a fight!

With the success of Trigger Warning, Alba has an opportunity to continue producing and starring in new projects, which she has spoken about during the promotional run for the Netflix movie. Back in April 2022, Deadline reported that Alba would be starring in and executive producing a series adaptation of the novel Confessions on the 7:45, though no updates have surfaced since.

Jessica Alba was developing a Confessions on the 7:45 series

Confessions on the 7:45 would be based on the Lisa Unger novel of the same name, which centers on a working mother whose chance meeting with a stranger on a train turns her life on its heels. It's the strangest commute home ever for the working mother, as betrayals bubble up to the surface. The psychological thriller series adaptation was said to be written by Charise Castro Smith.

In April 2022, Alba even shared her excitement for her upcoming role in Confessions on the 7:45, telling her Facebook followers, "So excited for this next project." She continued in her statement by sharing that turning the best-selling book into a Netflix series "is the dream." But again, since initial word of the potential series was announced, Netflix hasn't shared any updates.

Of course, it's completely normal for some movies and shows to wind up caught in an extended period of development for a number of reasons. Confessions on the 7:45 could have become caught up in some creative snags along the writing process, and we can't forget that over a year after the word of the series' development hit the news, dual Hollywood labor strikes brought the industry to a standstill. Let's hope the show didn't become one of the many casualties of the strikes.

However, now that Alba has once again re-proven her established star power with the success of Trigger Warning, there's an excellent case to be made for her next project to be fast-tracked on Netflix. The streaming service really, really should continue working with the talented actress and producer, especially on a psychological thriller limited series based on a book. Those are the streamer's bread and butter, and we need more Jessica Alba!
