I Woke Up a Vampire season 3 renewal status and everything we know so far
It's a great day! I Woke Up a Vampire season 2 is finally streaming on Netflix, and many people are quickly making their way through all eight episodes. But for the people who’ve already finished the entire second season, you’re probably wondering if more episodes will be coming soon in an I Woke Up a Vampire season 3. No worries! We’ve got you covered and shared all there is to know about a potential third installment down below.
I Woke Up a Vampire is a Canadian teen fantasy-comedy series following the life of a 13 year old girl named Carmie, who finds out she's half human, half vampire. Its first season was released on Netflix in October 2023, which was received fairly well by viewers. Later, it was announced that the show would be returning with brand new episodes in a second season. The second installment was released on Netflix on April 4, 2024.
In the second season, we watch Carmie tackle high school and an ancient prophecy. She also develops a crush on a sophomore at her school, not knowing that he's not who he portrays himself to be. Carmie thought she went through a tough time in her last year of middle school, but she soon realizes that more trouble lies ahead in her first year of high school.
Young actress Kaileen Angelic Chang reprises her role as Carmie. Also returning for season 2 are Niko Ceci (Kev), Zebastin Borjeau (Dylan), Ana Araujo (Leanna), Aaliyah Cinello (Madison), Kris Siddiqi (The Collector), and Charlotte Legult (Shapeshifter).
Will there be a I Woke Up a Vampire season 3?
As of April 4, the teen series has not been given the green light by Netflix or the Family Channel for a third season. If you didn't know, Family Channel is the other network behind I Woke Up a Vampire. The show actually aired on the Family Channel in Canada before it made its way to Netflix.
Although this is sad news, there's no reason to be alarmed at the moment since the second season just dropped on Netflix. The streaming giant doesn't typically renew/cancel a show so soon after it’s released. It usually waits to see how many people watch a show in a specific time frame before making a decision. Since the show originally aired on the Family Channel, it could've been renewed back then. But, it looks like the Canadian TV network was waiting for the second season to land on Netflix first before coming to a decision.
Now that I Woke Up a Vampire season 2 is on Netflix, it'll probably be a month or so wait before we hear back about the show's fate. This will give Netflix time to see how many people actually tuned in and watched the second season on its platform. If a good amount of people streamed the second season, Netflix will likely give the go ahead for a third season. But of course, the Family Channel has a say in the matter as well. It's unclear how many people tuned in and watched the show when it originally aired on the Family Channel, but these viewership numbers will likely count as well when it comes to deciding on the show's renewal.
The second season doesn't end on a cliffhanger, so the show could really end there. However, there's still so much that can be explored with Carmie, Blendeds, and Mythics. We just need that official renewal.
We're hoping for a I Woke Up a Vampire season 3 because we're not ready to see Carmie's story end just yet. If you're not either, make sure to tell everyone you know about the teen series so that it can better the chances of the show being renewed. We'll keep you updated on the show's renewal status, so stay tuned to Netflix Life!
