How to watch the 2024 SAG Awards nominations announcement ahead of Netflix debut
By Mads Lennon
The 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards are set for a ceremony first when they premiere on February 24, 2024. Netflix has earned the honor of hosting the prestigious award show and the streamer is planning to host it live. Let's just hope it goes better than the disastrous Love Is Blind season 4 reunion.
On Wednesday, January 9, 2024, Barbie alum Issa Rae and Welcome to Chippendales star Kumail Nanjiani (the pair also previously co-starred in the 2020 film The Lovebirds) will announce the nominations through Instagram Live at 7 a.m. PT. The SAG Awards feature 13 different film and television categories. The actual ceremony takes place February 24, as noted above, streamed live from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California.
Where and when to watch the 2024 SAG Award nomination announcement
For those film and television buffs who love getting into the hype of awards season, you're going to want to set an alarm clock tomorrow to ensure you're around when the nominations begin. The announcement will start with an introduction from reigning SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher at 6:50 a.m. PT/9:50 a.m. ET, but the nominations won't begin officially until 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET.
Those of us on the east coast have it a little easier since the nominations won't start until later for us, but on the west coast you'll be up bright and early to watch live on the Netflix and SAG Award Instagram pages. The Netflix Instagram is here and the SAG Award page is here, make sure to bookmark those so you can tune-in as soon as the announcements begin tomorrow via the Instagram Live function.
Netflix is likely to get nominations for May December, Maestro, The Crown, Beef, and more. In addition to learning the winners during the February 24 ceremony, this year's award ceremony will also honor Barbara Streisand with the SAG Life Achievement Award.
