In a brand new Netflix special titled Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef, viewers will watch competitive eating legends Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi go head-to-head in a hot dog competitive eating competition to see who will be crowned the ultimate hot-dog-eating champion. And guess what? The special will be aired live on Netflix!
Recently, the streaming giant has been setting many of its projects as live events. Besides this special, there's the upcoming boxing match Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson that will be streamed live on Netflix on Nov. 15, as well as the cooking show Dinner Time Live With David Chang, which will be streamed live on Sept. 10. There's also the upcoming sports events NFL on Christmas: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL on Christmas: Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans which will both air live on Netflix on Dec. 25.
Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef, on the other hand, is set to air live on Netflix on Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. PT/3:00 p.m. ET/2:00 p.m. CT. The event will take place at the HyperX Arena Las Vegas at the Luxor Hotel & Casino. 16x Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Champion Joey Chestnut and his longtime rival/6x Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Champion Takeru Kobayashi will meet again to see whose top dog when it comes to wolfing down the most all-beef hot dogs.
This will be the first time these two competitors have come face to face in 15 years. They previously went against each other at the Nathan’s Fourth of July hot dog-eating competition in 2009, where Chestnut beat Kobayashi in a five hot dog sudden-death event. It'll be interesting to see who bests who in this rematch hosted by actor and comedian Rob Riggle, and TV personality and WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Garcia, aka Nikki Bella.
