On the heels of the announcement that Netflix has canceled Halle Berry's sci-fi film The Mothership after multiple post-production delays, the streaming service has pivoted to start promoting Berry's next film, The Union, an action thriller in which she stars opposite Mark Wahlberg.

Netflix revealed the majority of its 2024 film and television slate on February 1 and The Union was among the many advertised Netflix Originals. It will be released on August 16, 2024. We don't have a trailer yet, but as you'll see in the featured image, Netflix did share a photo from the movie showing Wahlberg as his character Mike and Berry as Roxanne.

Even though The Mothership did not pan out, Berry previously found significant success at Netflix with her directorial debut Bruised. The Academy Award-winning actress signed a multi-picture deal with the streaming service to develop and star in several projects. Wahlberg has previously worked with Netflix on movies like Me Time and Spenser Confidential.

Previously titled Our Man from Jersey, The Union is about an average blue-collar construction worker who gets roped into the dangerous world of espionage by his former high school sweetheart. Besides Berry and Wahlberg, the film also stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Mike Colter, Alice Lee, J.K. Simmons, and Jackie Earle Haley. Wahlberg is also a producer on the movie alongside Stephen Levinson and Jeff Waxman.

Production on The Union took place from March to August 2022 with filming taking place across the globe in locations like London, Slovenia, and the United States (New Jersey). Julian Farino, who directed the first three seasons of HBO series Entourage, serves as the film's director with a script co-written by Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project) and David Guggenheim (Designated Survivor).

The Union drops on August 16 on Netflix. Bookmark this page and keep up with it to get more details and updates on the film before its release.
