"There are many stories of chivalry, where the heroic knight saves the damsel in distress. This is not one of them." That's the opening quote of Damsel, the new dark fantasy film starring Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown, and it's indicative of the kind of female-fronted story that unfolds over the course of the movie.

Brown plays a dutiful heroine who reluctantly agrees to an arranged marriage in exchange for her famine-stricken realm being taken care of by the wealthy and bountiful kingdom of Aurea. What she doesn't know is that this royal family upholds a long-standing tradition of sacrificing their princesses to a fire-breathing dragon to repay an ancient debt.
