Griselda episode 6 recap: "Adios, Miami"

The accidental slaying of Chucho's son is pretty much the final straw for Griselda, especially as she's now alienated everyone in her life apart from her sons and Rivi. The episode begins with Griselda partying with Marta Ochoa, sister of Fabio and a high-ranking member of the cartel. Things take a turn for the worse, however, when Marta suddenly overdoses on cocaine and falls through a glass table, dying instantly. Rivi and Griselda realize they need to get out of town ASAP, because the Ochoas definitely won't forgive this.

They find out that Marta has a huge secret stash of coke in her closet so they take it and intend to take her body with them to make it look like Marta just ran off with it all. But Rafa shows up before they can leave so they're forced to leave Marta's body behind, stuffed into a hot tub. Needless to say, Rafa and the Ochoas are pissed when they discover Marta's corpse.

Griselda then reaches out to Dario who informs her that it's over between them. He's taken their son Michael and left Miami, forcing Griselda to leave town with only Rivi and her other kids.

With CENTAC, June tries to convince Carmen to give up more details regarding the murders, but Carmen just says she wants out of all of this and to be placed in a safe house.

Rafa is on the warpath to find Griselda. He instructs his men to tell him the second their coke hits the streets. It doesn't take long for them to track down Griselda after Rivi starts selling again in their new place of hiding in Los Angeles.

Rivi gets a call tipping him off to the fact that Rafa knows where they are and is on the way, but he and Griselda have created a contingency plan. Griselda sends her sons out of the motel room and calls the cops on herself while Rivi takes the boys somewhere safe. By the time Rafa and his men show up, Griselda is being arrested and she has her lawyer ensure she'll get protective custody. Because June doesn't have any evidence to link Griselda to the murders, all they have her on is drug charges and she'll likely be out of prison in less than ten years.

But June has another trick up her sleeve. She puts a national APB out on Rivi and makes it seem like he kidnapped Griselda's youngest son, Ozzy. They're able to pick him up quickly and they tell Griselda that he flipped on her when threatened with the death penalty. Now he'll be their star witness in the murder case they're building against her... or so they think.

It turns out Rivi wasn't lying when he said he was Griselda's ride or die. Despite initially turning on her, he then messes up the entire case by intentionally targeting the DA's assistant and getting caught up in a huge phone sex scandal. It gets leaked to the public, making Rivi a terrible witness and the case falls apart completely. Griselda ends up only getting about seven years behind bars, and only for the drug charges.

The years pass and June later visits Griselda in prison again to bring her some grave news. Griselda's sons, Uber, Dixon, and Ozzy, have all been killed, implied to be murdered by the Ochoas or rival cartels. Michael survives, but is taken to Colombia to live with Dario's mother. As for Dario, he also gets tragically gunned down as Michael is kidnapped. It's unclear how Michael ends up with Dario's mom, but he is left alive.

When Griselda finally gets out of jail, she returns to the beach in Los Angeles, the last happy place she went with her boys before going to prison. The series ends with some text revealing that the real Griselda Blanco was gunned down by an unknown assassin on September 3, 2012 when she was 69 years old.
