Over the years, Netflix hasn't had the best collection of sci-fi movies, but that's starting to change. More recently, Netflix has invested in some quality sci-fi hits, and the streamer has acquired some of the most popular new sci-fi movies thanks to existing licensing deals.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is the latest high-profile sci-fi movie to hit Netflix, but it's far from the only good one. We shared a list of four sci-movies to watch on Netflix this summer!

Let's get the list started with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire!

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the sequel to 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, is now streaming on Netflix. The movie is officially the top movie on the Netflix Top 10 after it was released on the streaming service on July 22, 2024.

The film has an incredible cast and stars Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, McKenna Grace, Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, Logan Kim, and Celeste O’Connor. In addition, and this is a bit of spoiler, the original Ghostbusters cast returns, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, William Atherton, and Annie Potts. Harold Ramis, who also starred in the original movies, passed away in 2014.

In the fifth movie of the Ghostbusters franchise, the Spengler family travels to New York City from Oklahoma, where Ghostbusters: Afterlife was set. Back in the city, things are getting cold, and the gang must work together to stop hell from freezing over!

This movie, even though it's a cold one, just feels like a summer blockbuster. Millions of Netflix viewers around the US apparently agree with me.

Everything Everywhere All At Once

If you’ve known me for the past two or three years, you know that I don’t shut up about loving Everything Everywhere All At Once. It’s one of my favorite movies of the last several years and my favorite movie on Netflix right now.

The film, which won the Oscar for Best Picture two years ago, tells the story of Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh), a working mom struggling to save her family and her business. Evelyn is called upon to stop the destruction of the multiverse from the powerful force that is Jobu Tapaki (Stephanie Hsu).

Along with Yeoh and Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, James Hong, and Jamie Lee Curtis star in the film from Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

Watch Everything Everywhere All At Once on Netflix soon!

Godzilla Minus One

Godzilla Minus One was all the rage when it was added to Netflix earlier this summer! The film was released in Japan in 2023. It’s written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki.

Godzilla Minus One is set immediately after World War II. The film tells the story of a Japan on the brink of destruction, but then, something wicked this way comes, and it’s Godzilla!

I’m not the biggest fan of Godzilla; I will admit that. This movie, though, is something else! You just have to check it out.

In addition to the incredible visuals, the film has a great cast, including Ryunosuke Kamiki, Yuki Yamada, Minami Hamabe, Munetaka Aoki, and more.

The Adam Project

Ryan Reynolds is officially the man of the hour! Deadpool & Wolverine starring Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is well on its way to becoming the biggest movie of the summer. So, why not check out Reynolds’ best movie on Netflix right now?

No, I’m not saying The Adam Project is the best Ryan Reynolds movie. Yes, I’m saying it’s the best Ryan Reynolds movie that you can watch on Netflix right now. I’m sorry, Red Notice fans!

The Adam Project is also directed by Shawn Levy, who is an executive producer and director of Stranger Things. On top of that, he’s also the director of Deadpool & Wolverine. We’re all destined to watch The Adam Project on Netflix right now, I think.

The film stars Reynolds, Walker Scobell, also known as Percy Jackson in Disney’s hit series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldaña, and Catherine Keener.

In The Adam Project, Adam (Reynolds) travels back in time and meets his younger self (Scobell). The Adams are forced to work together to stop an evil organization.

That’s the list of the best sci-fi movies right now! Stay tuned for more good movies to watch on Netflix!
