Geek Girl season 2 won't happen for this reason (even though there are six books)
Netflix's Geek Girl -- based on the beloved young adult novel of the same name by Holly Smale --recently premiered on the streaming giant, and it has quickly captured our hearts! The series follows the story of Harriet Manners (played by Emily Carey), an awkward and geeky 16-year-old who unexpectedly gets scouted to become a model.
The official Netflix synopsis, as per their Media Center, reads:
"Harriet Manners' life is turned upside down when she's thrust into the world of fashion. Tightly wound agents, off-beat designers, impossibly high heels, a cute supermodel with a great smile, Harriet has no idea what she's in for."

With its lovable characters, laugh-out-loud moments, and seriously relatable issues, Geek Girl seemed destined to be a hit! Plus, with six novels already out, fans had plenty of material to look forward to. So, naturally, we all assumed that this Netflix series was bound to return for a second season, right?
Well, this is where the streaming giant dropped the ball. Despite its potential, Geek Girl will not be returning to our screens for another season.
Curious why? Then you're in luck! Join us as we reveal why we won't be seeing Geek Girl season 2 on our screens below!
Why is Geek Girl not coming back for a second season on Netflix?
While we would have loved nothing more than to be reunited with Harriet Manners for another epic season, it turns out that Netflix had different plans. According to What's on Netflix, the streaming giant confirmed that Geek Girl is set to be a one-off limited series.
Despite the Geek Girl book series spanning six novels, published between 2013 and 2017, Netflix has only adapted the first book, titled Geek Girl into a 10-episode limited series that premiered on May 30, 2024. So, for now, it looks like we'll have to say goodbye to Harriet and her quirky adventures on the small screen!
What is a limited series?
A limited series, also known as a miniseries, on Netflix, is like a perfectly wrapped gift. It tells a complete, self-contained story over a set number of episodes, usually between 3 to 10. Unlike ongoing TV shows that can stretch on for multiple seasons, a limited series is designed with a clear beginning, middle, and end, all within one season. It’s like binge-watching a novel -- you get to enjoy the whole tale without waiting for next season’s cliffhangers.
What are the tiles of the Geek Girl books by Holly Smale?
As mentioned, the main Geek Girl universe by Holly Smale consists of six books and two additional novellas. If you're craving more of Harriet now that Netflix won't be giving us a second season, your best bet is to dive into the book series.
