5 family-friendly Easter movies on Netflix for 2024
By Mads Lennon
Happy Easter everyone! With the holiday coming up this weekend, we've compiled a list of family-oriented Easter movies to keep you entertained after the egg hunts and Easter bunny visit this Sunday.
Whether you're cooking Easter dinner or entertaining guests, there is always a chance for some downtime, and what better way to fill it than by putting on a Netflix movie in the background? Here are some great options!
Over the Moon (2020)
Over the Moon isn't an Easter movie, but it is a heartfelt and sweet animated feature with adorable bunnies like Bungee and Jade Rabbit! Bungee alone is worth watching the movie for, especially if your kids want to see more bunnies on this special holiday. Beyond the rabbits, Over the Moon is a compelling tale of a young girl named Fei Fei who builds a rocket to the moon to prove the existence of a moon goddess.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Odds are that if you have kids and a Netflix subscription, you've already watched this super popular 2023 movie adapted from the iconic Nintendo franchise of the same name. But if you haven't, then settle down and watch the adventures of Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, Bowser, and more of the beloved characters as they travel through magical realms and embark on an epic adventure.

Trolls (2016)
Did you know that the Trolls franchise has a surprisingly large and active fanbase? I was a bit blown away when I stumbled upon it, especially it's comprised of fans of all ages. I feel like there has to be some connection to those little Troll dolls we were obsessed with in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Anyway, the first Trolls is currently on Netflix and feels like a fittingly vibrant Easter film. It follows trolls Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) after their village is invaded by the evil Bergen. Together they must save their friends.
Jesus Revolution (2023)
For adults who want to watch something suited for the entire family but that's live-action instead of animated, I suggest giving Jesus Revolution a try. This one is PG-13 so you might want to watch it first before you let your kids join. Set in the 1970s, a young Greg Laurie befriends the hippie street preacher Lonnie Frisbee and together they revive a local church with the assistance of pastor Chuck Smith. It's based on a true story and stars Joel Courtney and Kelsey Grammar.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (2023)
Generally when one thinks about animals often affiliated with Easter, there are two that come to mind: chicks and rabbits. Well, Over the Moon will cover the rabbit fans but Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is the hilarious sequel to the classic 2000 movie from Aardman and features plenty of chickens, though they're full-grown and not baby chicks. Can't win them all.
Rocky and Ginger are now living in a peaceful, chicken-only village with their daughter Molly. To keep her safe, they never let Molly journey outside the walls, but the rambunctious teen can't help but become mischievous, forcing her parents to get the gang back together and go on a rescue mission.
