It's been an exceptionally and uncharacteristically long wait for Emily in Paris season 4 due to a number of delays related to the strikes, but the highly anticipated new season is currently filming.

The third season dropped in December 2022, and season 4 seems primed for release later on in the year. Unfortunately, that's the longest gap between seasons in the show's history, but it will be more than worth the wait. There's still a lot we don't know about the season, but we might have just found out about a high-profile guest star thanks to set photos.

In April 2024, Lily Collins was photographed on set in Paris in one of Emily's most stylish ensembles to date. But it wasn't her outfit that was inspiring headlines. It was who else was photographed on set that has people talking: France's First Lady Brigitte Macron.

Brigitte Macron seen on Emily in Paris season 4 set

According to the Daily Mail, the French president's wife was seen on the set of Emily in Paris season 4 during filming, leading to the assumption that Macron will be making a cameo appearance in an episode of the upcoming season. What kind of chaos could Emily potentially be creating for the First Lady in season 4? Your guess is as good as ours!

Back in the first season of Emily in Paris, Brigitte Macron was referenced in an episode but did not appear on screen. One of Emily's social media posts is shared by Macron, which helps her online presence soar into big numbers. Surely, Emily and Brigitte will have a lot to talk about and catch up on when their paths cross again, seemingly in person this time, in season 4.

During a December 2022 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert while promoting the third season, Collins revealed that she had not met French president Emmanuel Macron, but that she actually had met "his lovely wife" and that she's "actually a really big fan of the show." Obviously, Macron also wants to know what's going to happen between Emily and Gabriel, so much so she had to be on the show herself!

Kidding, of course. We won't know what brings the French First Lady to Emily in Paris until season 4 finally makes its premiere. But we do have something of a sigh of relief thanks to something that was confirmed by the set photos, and that's a very important character return. If you happened to be worried, Emily's signature old-school film camera phone case will be back for season 4, as seen firmly placed in Collins' hand. Phew, what a relief!
