We may not have asked for it, but Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead has a remake and it’s here. You can watch the movie in theaters right now, but where will it stream afterward?
The remake tells the story that we saw in the 1991 cult classic. A group of siblings think that they will get a summer of fun and freedom while their mom is away. Instead, they end up with a strict babysitter who ends up dying.
Now yes, the babysitter dies of natural causes. They should just be able to call it in. The problem is that they know calling mom means that she will return from her vacation early. That means their summer plans don’t get to be as fun as they now could be. They just need to make sure that mom doesn’t find out about the situation.
Will Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead remake come to Netflix?
It’s usually easy to tell if a movie is going to head to Netflix after theaters. The big movie studios have deals with various streamers. Sony is the big one for Netflix, but a few other movies head straight there.
Don’t Tell Mom and Babysitter’s Dead comes from BET+ Original Films among other production studios. It’s distributed by Iconic Events Recording. While these studios don’t have a deal with specific platforms, we can say that it won’t come to Netflix at first. It might not ever head to the streamer.
Where to stream Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead after theaters
Eyes are on where this movie could end up streaming. As it’s a BET+ Original Movie, this movie is going to head to the Bet+ streaming platform. The date is already set for this. You’ll be able to stream it on BET+ on Thursday, May 16.
Could it head to another platform after that? Maybe. Smaller platforms are licensing out to other platforms here and there, with Netflix being the most commonly chosen one.
Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead remake cast
Simone Joy Jones plays Tanya Crandell, the 17-year-old eldest sibling of the Crandell family. This was the role Christina Applegate had in the original move. She’s the one who needs to look out for her siblings when their babysitter, Mrs. Sturak, played by June Squibb, dies. Of course, Tanya can’t tell their mom about the babysitter because that means the end of the summer of freedom.
Nicole Riche plays Rose Lindsey, the owner of the fashion store that ends up hiring Tanya so that she can make money during the summer and keep her siblings looked after. This role was originally going to go to Tyra Banks, but by the time filming started, production schedules didn’t work out.
The rest of the main cast is as follows:
Jermaine Fowler as Gus
Gus Kenworthy as Bruce
Donielle Tremaine Hansley as Kenny Crandell
Miles Fowler as Bryan
Iantha Richardson as Caroline
